Well, I was down home yesterday to see one of my good friends that tends to only come around once a year, and we got a few Tornado warnings. Being the typical smart asses we are, the four of us (2 good friends and the girlfriend) didn't want the warnings to ruin our get together, so we went out to my parents house to start the bon-fire. Well, it turns out we were heading into the storm... It quickly got black as hell out and Abbey (friend from Arizona) started freaking out because she had a traumatic experience in a storm once. We decide to just go get my car, and head back to Adams house since he has a basement. (We actually just CAME from his place...
Well, we pass my dad on the way there, and Adam drops me and the girl off to grab my car. I run inside to grab my shit, and my dad came back to tell us what was going on. He seen some clouds circling over the house, so he grabbed the kids and was going to just run from the storm. (My parents live in a trailer-turned-into-house without a basement) Well, after about 5 minutes, we look off in the distance and see a HUGE effing wall of rain coming our way, and some LOW ass clouds. Knowing what comes from shit like that... I told my dad to go, tell the girlfriend to get the FUCK in the car, and I haul ass back to Adams. (it's only a 5 minute drive in the country)
My dad goes straight, and I take a turn because it's faster... well... that was a mistake. I get over the hill, and see HUGE effing dust clouds a block away... and realized they weren't dust clouds... it was a tornado. I drive forward enough to get to the next road to turn around, and as soon as the car is flipped around, the rain just CRASHES into the car. I can't see 5 ft in front of me, and the wind is so damn strong it's knocking trees over.
My girlfriend starts sobbing, I try to calm her down and drive the opposite way of the tornado, carefully. I get back to the main road, and head on to adams, dodgeing fallen branches. Luckly, the storm passes quickly, and I was able to avoid the tornado.
We get to adams, rush to the basement, and just wait. Once the storm completly passes, I start talking to everyone, and we hear the police scanner. Turns out what I saw, wasn't just a Tornado. It was two chasing each other, basically tearing everything apart....
Yea, I got extremely lucky. Lesson learned, PAY ATTENTION TO THE FUCKING SIRENS.
I should have known better... hell 6 years ago MANY tornados passed through that part of ohio, and I watched one tear through the field behind our house... It took out part of van wert, about 6 houses, part of a factory, and a lot of other shit.... Today I realize how lucky i was 6 years ago, and yesterday.
