whoa....
So i just found out today that the money i thought i would be getting when i turned 35(15 years) I would be getting a couple hundred thousand dollars from my mother's 401k plan. now i find out that they are investing the money in a stable and long term growth ira account. the banker told me that with my age and the years ahead for growth I would probably have a lot more. He gave me an accurate guess of how much money there should be. he told me by the time i'm 50 i should have amassed a few MILLION!!! i just kinda stared at him with my jaw wide open. not to mention about 700k paid out over 30 years to me a bit more each year. This is crazy

oh he's going to be my world. i grew up in an apartment with my mother and we finally moved out when i was 16. we bought my grandparents house and moved in with them. That december my grandfather had a stroke and was never the same again. So we always took care of him. then in 06 my mother was diagnosed with als. Both passed away in december and january. i'm still with my grandmother and trying to do a lot for her cause it's extremely hard on her too. going from four people in the house to two in a matter of weeks hurts

Sorry to hear about that hun. Your mother worked her ass off when she was well to make sure that you would be set for life. Don't take advantage of it and use it as wisely as you can. For now have the best time you can with your grandmother. Best wishes for the both of you and sorry for your losses.

Oh my... sorry to hear about loose some of your close relatives but it's nice to see that you plan on using money they put aside wisely to help raise your own child. I hope your IRA does better than mine right now.

the banker has his money invested in the same fund. he said it's one of the better ones out there cause it's low risk. the money i get every year will be for my family to go on a vacation. I'll get to take my son anywhere he could ever dream of and get him whatever he wants.
Currently my mother doesn't have a headstone but i am having a special one made for her. it has this poem that she picked out before she died one of those sad ones on the funeral cards but it's really nice. i'm also getting a picture of this german castle she loved so much laser engraved on it. It's gonna be beautiful. There's also going to be some space on each side of the base for 2 angel statues. I drive by the cemetary each day if i go anywhere. It's just down the road from me and i say a prayer for both of them. done that every single time i've gone by.
EDIT this is the castle she loved so much.

QFT.... that's the best advice I have ever seen given on this site. Way to go gramps!!! See? Even though old people are slow and dagerous behind the wheel, senior citizens can still serve a purpose...
