Mini Rant about some 1GNS

**my original post was longer but i refreshed the page by accident**

So as I am trying to find a decent 1GN, I am having some difficulty. Every 1GN I find in the Tri-state area are fugly ( primered, riced out, ect ect). Even in the picture threads most of them are over done and poorly modded. I see more 2GNS that are better styled than the older brothers. I have always had a crush on 1gns do to the fact that they came in coupes as well as sedans.

Agree or disagree, just dont make this into some dumb flame war. If you can't take critism on your neon then dont reply

If anyone has any pictures of this style
**style im talking about: Basically stock exterior, slammed, simple wheels, mild exhust, with more focus on the engine boost or N/A

Buy this one, now.

I love 1gns. I love the way my 2gn looks, but performance wise, my 1gn is better. It's a lighter platform, it has easier electronics to work with, more performance parts, it's awesome. I wanna drop it on coilovers and my stock 14's, or maybe a set of rota 15's.

I don't have any good recent pics of mine at the moment, but I'll work on it a little bit.

2 Things that are funny

1. When I made this thread I was trying to think of good 1GNs on here yours came to mind. I remember the ideas you had for it and it sounded really clean...

2. I was actually going to look into that one... I just came across it.

This is exactly what my car looks like now, just a little cleaner, and a dif exhaust. And even the exhaust I have now is going away for a side exit soon.

It would be kind of nice to have a 1gn but i don't have the funds to do a 2.4 swap on one. Although i do have my choice of about 30 2.4L's from my junkyard and i believe a 99 R/T ECU. On 1gns the ecu sit right behind the driver headlight up top?

Yeah, that's where they sit. I love the fact that there are more options for the 1gn in the computer, but still, a flashable one would be awesome.

There are a lot of 1gn and 2gn in the area I live... I cannot go out without seeing at least one.

The other day someone had a dark green 1gn coupe parked in an area with a few other cars for private sale... sort of a community thing around here. I passed by it a few times and it looked to be in excellent shape... stock too.

I'm a little sorry I did not inquire about it but then again I really don't need another car and don't have the facilities for a project car right now.

I was looking at this one here http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t=317751

Looks clean as hell. I was going to see if my Aunt would buy it and hold it for me till I got back to the states, but she didn't have the money to do that... still debating on if I'm going to buy a pre-swapped 1st Gen or just work on my '05.

But yea, the car in the link is probably one of my favorites.

I love Kosei rims. I almost bought a set in 2005 when I first got my 05...wish I had.

Yea, too bad if you read the forum the rims don't come with the car... he posted a few pics later down the thread with the rims that come with the car. Still doesn't look all too bad.

Those Kosei's definitely don't look bad at all on that 1st Gen though.

Those are even better, the "trunk package wheels". A buddy of mine almost bought a set of them, but they are $600.

Ah, so they're really called that. I was a bit confused when he said that he had "trunk wheels"... thought he meant a spare? lol...

Yeah, they were offered through Mopar for the ACR's. They were made so that you could run a 15" tire on a car in SCCA, since they have the same part number as the stock wheels that came on the car, thus the trunk package thing.

You have 2 different wheels confused.

The trunk package wheel is a 14x7 very strong and very light also known as an IT wheel

The mopar acc wheel is a 15x7 and about the same as an OE wheel. This was not legal in SSC the wheels have to be the same dimensions as stock.

by INVUJerry
I donno man, I've had people calling the 15x6 trunk package wheels forever. I know the 14x7 IT wheel existed, but I don't think that was the trunk package wheel.

Trunk package would mean they were legal in SSC a friend of mine (see pocono race in tOTM) who ran an SSC neon for year said they werent legal neither were the IT wheels you pretty much had to run sport alloys no biggie as you can get 205s on there no problem.

Did you notice that this person creatively turned their two door coupe into a 4 door sedan? Major work right there!

That's funny, I saw that and was like :wtf:

I love 1gn's, would love a coupe with a 2.4T swap, would rock my socks off. But I am forever in love with the SRT4, dunno why!

I wanted a 1gn when i first went looking for a car and i almost had one. Was gonna put a head gasket on it in the dealer parking lot and drive off with it for about $1200 but on the way there with the money, i called them and they sold the effin thing right out from onder me and i ended up w/ my 2gn. I couldn't be happier.
