Is anyone else as crazy excited as I am to see this movie? It just looks balls-to-the-wall badass. I watched this clip below that was shown at an Imax theater and holy crap man...Totally going to the midnight show on Thursday.

Can not f-cking wait! It looks like Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the Joker. Batman > all comic characters.

Sure wish I could... :(

If I was on the road I could buy a copy from some haji that filmed it from the theatres (for $2) but I hear missions are slowing down so it might be a bit before I go :(

Sucks

If you're talking about how you're deployed, I hear ya man. Some bootleg copies aren't that bad though. I watched a boot leg version of Iron Man, wasn't that bad. But we're in the fuckin boonies so we don't get much over here.

Just gotta look forward to coming home to the states. I'll catch up on movies then, after I work on the Neon :D

Been a Batman fan since I was a kid. It was weird, but a couple of the guys I work with at my engineering internship, we were all going to great lengths talking about the subtle nuances on who was the best Batman, the Ledger Joker vs. the Nicholson Joker vs. the Cartoon Joker (voiced my Mark Hamil). I don't go see movies very often, and it's hard to make a movie that genuinely interests me enough to go see it in a theater, but Dark Knight does it. Batman Begins, sad to say, I never saw in the theater, even though I had wanted to, I just never found time to see it. I did eventually on DVD. The way I see it, the Nicholson Joker was the best for Tim Burton's version of Batman: a clumsy, awkward, and weak (he couldn't even punch Batman) dark menace who was a crazy yet viable threat to the status quo. Complete with sarcastic one-liners and his perfect purple suits, Jack was a star as the Joker. The Mark Hamil one (had to be safe for kids) was enjoyable to watch in his misdeeds, all the while befuddling normal people as to his reasons behind his goofy actions, but had a seriously threatening side to him that happened to be entwined with comedy. But I think the Ledger Joker will be a very different departure. Probably more in tune with the original comic book version. More of a sick, criminal mastermind who kills without discretion, and without remorse, rhetorically posing the question why are we all so uptight and he'll be glad to help you cut loose in a pool of your own blood, as he has cut loose his association with sanity. Rough around the edges, never preening, always unpredictable.
Cars I've been through:
1989 Toyota Supra Turbo (still have it, non-running)
1994 Acura Integra (wrecked)
1994 Chrysler New Yorker (still have it, mom's now)
1990 Honda Civic AWD Wagon (stolen)
1998 Honda Civic LX (stolen)
1994 Nissan Pickup (bought from uncle, sold back to him)
2001 Dodge Neon R/T (wrecked)
1998 Lexus GS300 (current)
1999 BMW 528i Sport (current)

On our way home from Carlisle, a tractor trailer with crazy graphics drove by us going south. It had all sorts of cool Dark Knight graphics on it, and cool lights, etc...

And following behind it down the highway on a flatbed....this.

I agree with 01NeonR/T. I would add that I think Mark Hamil gave the Joker as much insanity and edge that he could considering the fact it is an animated cartoon aimed at a wide age group. A moment of brilliance was during the Batman animated movie *insert title here* (I forgot) where the Joker is explaining what happened to Robin (Dick Grayson) with a black and white home movie playing in the backround, and is truly disturbing!

The new Joker is nearly prefect (from what I've seen so far) to the original Dark Night comic in which Batman is taken to the highest (or lowest) and darkest levels. The Joker in that series is completely insane and deadly. I can't wait :D

most deffinately looking forward to seeing this. joker is the all time greatest batman villain in my opinion and after seeing the various trailers and teasers about the upcoming movie, i think Heath Ledger nailed the character to a "T". It's just too bad he won't be able to be in a sequel (RIP). hope the studio was smart enough not to kill the joker off again. i'd love to see him brought back in a future sequel...

From what I read so far, they don't kill the joker, and don't show anything about how he started. So it's possible to bring him back again if they choose to. It's too bad that if they do, we'll be seeing someone else who may not do the role justice...
