So i was cruising down the Boulevard

Post by jetas » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:45 am

And dam cop pulls up next to me, half a mile later i see those beautiful flashing lights on the Crown Vics... So i pull over, turn off the car, throw the keys on the dash and wait to see why i got pulled over. The guy comes to me and says " is this your car?'' I was going to be a smart ass and say no shit ociffer, but i replied yes... The he starts interrogating me and my friend after gettin all of our info and we're asked to step out of the car, At this point im like WTF is going on. They pat us both down and we get handcuffed and were still not told why. My car gets searched and those lames find NOTHING . I ended up getting a fuckin fix-it ticket for my damn tailights and because my car wasnt registered at my new address. All this bullshit for no reason. I cant believe the crappy luck ive had lately and this just adds to the shit-list. Now i need to see if theyre going to fine me. Anyone have this kind of shit happen to them?

funny thing happened to me. i was driving 30mph on the street the a cop car was behind me. a few blocks more i knew the speed limit was changing to 40mph. so i pass the sign and i step on the gas. vroooom........ when i did that cop turned on their rainbow lights. i hit the brakes pulled over and asked them whats wrong.

he told me why i was speeding. I replied and said i was following the law and there was a sign bac there. he didn't believe me. (the cop was a rookie) he starts writing up the the ticket. until another officer pulled up. an under cover officer. he asked the rookie cop why i was pulled over. next thing you know the undercover cop comes back, and said i could go.. btw i never signed the ticket i saw the cop tearing it up.

ture story i will post pictures of the road

here's a tip if this ever happens again.

no police officer has the right to search your car without probable cause or a warrant. any forceful search without your consent, a warrant or probable cause is an ILLEGAL search and can get an officer in trouble. They ARE allowed to ask you though without probable cause.

they are allowed to cuff you while searching. being cuffed does not automatically mean you're under arrest. it's just a safety measure on their part.

alsey_seven: i dont know what CA laws are like, but in PA, an officer can not pull you over until at least 3/10ths of a mile AFTER a speed limit change if using his speedometer to gauge your speed. same distance rule applies to speed traps, cant be setup within 3/10ths of a mile of a speed limit change

in any event. if what a cop does is wrong, DO NOT argue with him, just take the ticket he gives you and then plead not guilty and bring your case before the court. if the cop was out of line, the ticket will be thrown out.

he neglected to mention that he had just left a crack house and was smoking a rock when the cop pulled up next to him and he had his buddy hide the stem in his ass.

Blah blah blah illegal search blah blah blah. They don't waste time searching cars for no reason, and you probably told him he could and don't realize it.

I probably did tell him but i honestly dont remember. The shit i was tripping on was the fact that he repeatedly asked me if i had drugs in the car but that still aint probable cause. The guy looked like an asshole and his actions proved he was. But screw it im not going to make a big deal out of it. Im guna just do what i need to a few weeks later il smoke my tailights again. I knew cops in my town were dicks but i still cant believe that shit happened

chock it up to an experience of a lifetime.. most people will go their entire life without being treated like they are on an episode of COPS

you got something to tell you friends, kids, grandkids, etc.

but judging by your myspace pic if i were that cop i would have totally thought you had drugs in the car too :p

It is unfortunate; however, it seems when some cops see a modified vehicle and a young guy driving it... it attracts their attention due to assumptions they make.

In Maryland if your tint is too dark by the cops perspective they can search your car. That is why I roll both windows down when a cop pulls me over. Also if you gave them permission they can search even if it is for a BS reason.

Here in IL, if you accept the ticket and go to court to plead not guilty and are found to in fact, be, not guilty... you still have to pay court costs. I do'nt know about you guys, but it's not really worth it to me.

2 days off of work for court, plus 30 dollars in court costs (at least) is less worthy to me than being in and out of the courthouse before the court date (after work) and paying 80 bucks.

Just my $.02 however.

Sorry, I agree that they're B.S. but I'm not taking two days off of work to fight it. However, if a cop says I'm speeding when I'm not, I'll fight it right there and make him show me the radar gun. If he cannot show it, he has no proof, and I'll make him get someone else out there. Cops won't go through that, so they'll just let it go.

TheRandom1 so you are saying you wouldnt bother going to court to fight a $275 illegal tint citation when you infact have legal tint? (example)

Top that with the fact you were speeding 20 over, so you get a $200-$250 ticket. Maybe it was in a work zone so it's $500.

That's not worth the trip to court?
And the insurance surcharge that will affect you for at least 3 years...

That is not at all what I am saying, read my post again. I'm saying for a speeding ticket, 50-60 bucks or so (last time I had one) if you're not speeding, it is easier and cheaper to go to the courthouse (or mail in your check) beforehand and not lose the time on work.

I don't know about you, but I gross over 100 bucks a day, so if I don't show up so I can go to court, that's 100 bucks less on my check each day. So to fight a 60 dollar ticket and lose 100 bucks, the math isn't there... you're probably going to have to pay the ticket anyways, or at the very least pay the court costs of 30 bucks.

So that day off of work cost you 100 bucks, and the court costs are 30, you're paying almost twice as much as it cost you for that ticket.

Something big like you're talking about, it's worth it to fight, since A, it's legal, and B, unless it takes more than 2 days, I'm still coming out ahead of the deal.

The average speeding ticket costs 700 in insurance premiums over 3 years. That makes it worth taking a day off work for me. You gotta look at the long term.

funny story me and my buddy were driving in his honda well as we backed out a cop passed we left his apartment complex and this cop comes flying out of nowwhere going around cars to get behind us. When he pulls my buddy over we ask what we did
These are the cops exact words

Us:Why was i pulled over
Him: You kinda look like someone i MAY be looking for, but my reason to pull you over was because you didnt signal while coming out of the parking space. (we backed out hard to use a signal to back out)
needless to say we had a good laugh about it

anyway cops are douche bags lol...........and im pretty sure its illegal in every state to search your car unless they have probable cause or they ask you and you say yes
