Whats more important. 30 extra bucks. Or losing an engine or possible major damange to your car or possibly killing yourself or very seriously injuring yourself?

Don't cheap out. Get a quality jack that you can trust.

first i bought the $20 kit from advanced auto parts with the 2 jack stands and floor jack.. eh, it works.. but not much else..

then i bought another off-brand one from walmart.. bigger and sturdier for sure.. works alright.. and its somewhat low profile so im able to get it under the side of the car to reach the frame and lift there with a block of wood... i think that was also $20, maybe 30, dont remember

but i pretty much agree with ^^^ a couple extra bucks will get you a jack that will be worth it in the long run.. spend more now for a decent one and you wont have to buy 2 or 3 of them..

you may end up using the jack more than you think so start off right the first time and get a good one..

i got myself the Scorpion racing jack which goes as low as 3 3/4". It cost about $100-120 (can't remember exactly) and has been very much worth the cost. Once you have a good jack you'll use it quite often. So don't cheap out and put yourself at risk. Get a quality one and you'll sure enjoy / notice where that extra bit went.

The only bad thing about it is if you are going to be transporting it it is a back breaker spending an extra $40 on the alum one might be the answer then.

I have a craftsman jack with 2 stands and then I bought an extra pair of stands.

Will you wussies stop whining about carrying some shit? Go to Harbor Freight, grab onto the one that is about 5 feet long. Carry that around a little bit and then get back to me.

We use a huge, heavy, 3 ton jack. Basically unbeatable.
