The point of this entire thread was explained in my #1 post

For people to look out for bikes when they're driving!

holy jesus...

#1 i hate that term "cagers"... that just sounds stupid...

#2 Bikes should drive less offensively and more defensively because, face it, most people dont look for a bike.. Personally i do.. since i have always wanted a bike, i never harass people riding them.. For the dumb ass's that are all over the road i let it pass... throwing things at people... thats just retarded...
sure the kid could get into and accident.. but what if you, by throwing something at him, make him kill 5 more people.. your basically turning a moll hill into a mountain..

if your really concerned with his driving call the aggressive driving number... which most states that i have been to have..

cliff notes

Driving like a idiot is a bad idea
throwing this at people equally a bad idea

More often then you'd think it's the experienced cager/rider that wrecks, and it's because of that mindset. I'm experienced so I can get away with going a little faster, or drinking a little before hand, or doing just that one wheelie/race. I don't know if it's arrogance or ignorance that is the problem but something is skewing a viewpoint.

I agree more then anyone, even being a non rider, that people don't pay enough attention to riders. However you can't demand attention and then at the same time put down those whose attention you want. Riders wreck, cagers wreck, new drivers, old drivers, experience does not make you immune. If anyone honestly believes one group is better then the other or is more or less at fault then I feel sorry for you.

With that said, I apologize to Frank if this post oversteps the warning. I feel I tried my best to keep it civil and to provoke mature conversation. If you don't agree feel free to edit it and put in a milkshake!

All I have to say is I watch out for bikers all the time, harley guys are easy to spot but the fools on crotch rockets need to understand if you are moving in and out of traffic like a jack ass and get pissed because some one didn't see you, you can't get pissed. Many cars have blind spots that SUVs can hid in so if you "speed" up on a car and get cut off its your fault because most crotch rockets can't be heard unless they are right up on you at highway speeds. Living around DC and Baltimore I see more dickhead bike riders then drivers which is kind of hard to believe. I have been to vigils for riders I knew and everyone there was deluded into believing the rider had no fault when I knew and saw the things they did on their bikes. Is it cold to be unsympathetic probably but when you get on a bike or into a car you assume a risk no matter how safe of a driver you are or think you are.

Wow... I must say, I am not impressed by any of the arguments I read, except for one persons - Chris makes a great point, the fact that people #1 try to police other riders/drivers and #2 let the person be.

I will admit, I speed when I drive, on the highway, but when in a residential area I drive slow, below the limit. I will not be responsible for hitting some poor dumb kid who decides to run out into the street after his ball. I see it once a month, and yes, once a month I have to slam on the brakes, shake my head, and then look for parents - usually none around. But when on the highway there is always that one jackass who decides to drive in the left lane, going the speed limit, refusing to get over for whatever reason, holding up traffic. You want to cruise the limit, get over. You see someone coming up in your rearview mirror (which I assuem those douchebags don't use), get over. You want to play police and slow down, brake-check, block in, all that stuff is moronic and stems from nothing but "pride". My Pastor always told me, "Pride will take you for a ride".

Sorry, as for my second point, just leave the people aone - they want to drive fast, lane cut, whatever, let them - just get far away. I was driving the same highway I always drive and doing the same speed I always drive at this tretch when out of nowhere a motorcycle pops into my blind spot as I was getting over.... I saw him, way far back before I decided to switch into the right lane... but he decided my 70 in a 60 wasn't fast enough for the left lane and the line of cars I was passing. Right after I cleared the cars I signaled, checked mirrors, looked around and started to get over... what is he doing? Just what most of these people are talking about - going way too fast, chaging lanes, riding inbetween cars. And I almost hit him and could have killed him - because he was driving like a dick. All I could do was swerve back into my lane and wait for him to pass. At the next light we were next to each other and he was staring at me. So I rolled down my window and asked him what his deal was and he told me because I almost hit him and I said - Oh really, how fast were you going? Because I was going 70 and you came out of nowhere. He just told me to "F off" and I told him to have a SAFE RIDE and stop driving like an asshole. He did a wheelie across the intersection to prove his manliness to me.

Anyway, I think Chris is right when he says just leave the policing to the police, and let people be.

All I'm going to say is..

Nothing turns me on more than seeing a group of street bikes flying past me at 100+ . (well maybe a couple of things turn me on more, but you get the point)

OH my god it makes me so happy.

theres alot of bad drivers and they drive alot of things cars trucks bikes i always keep my eye out my dad and older brother tide bikes hardcore. I respect what you guys do but if you cit lanes and drive way to fast im not gonna say im at fault or you are but you have to understand doing 100 in a 65 is not within the limits of the law. im not the police im not gonna tell you what to do but be careful with what you do i know i could not live with myself if i killed someone while i was behind the wheel

i'm not saying that going all vigilante on stupid riders is right...i was just as in the wrong by cutting off the rider.

and yeah, i am guilty of speeding, street racing, weaving, etc. That's all in my part except for speeding. I have a strict policy regarding the speeds i drive. Anywhere that there's local cops, i stick to no more than 5mph over the speed limit. on the highway, i stick to no more than 10mph over the speed limit. You'll never catch me weaving carelessly through traffic, you'll never catch me street racing, and you'll certainly never catch me doing 100+ on the highway. I now have a clean driving record and I intend to keep it that way.

there are obviously some exceptions of course. if there's an immediate family emergency, i'll flip on my 4-ways and fly, staying as far away from other cars as i can.

i agree, throwing things at bikers who are being stupid isnt cool...it can potentially cause more damage than just letting them go on their merry way... but everyone has road rage, and it takes many differant forms, as does the things that set it off.

i try to follow traffic laws as much as i can, as should everyone else...i.e. no riding the shoulder, splitting lanes, excessive speeding, etc. any of those actions, you're just playing with fate and asking to die, experienced driver/rider or not...

Wow @ this thread. I just found it and read through everything.

When I see bikes on the road, be it a crotch rocket or cruiser I keep my distance. Riding too close to them not only makes me nervous but I'm sure it makes them nervous as well. Alot of crotch rocket owners have modified their taillights so you can BARELY see them....I would hate to be up their ass when they brake and potentially hurt them because I can't tell that they are stopping or turning.

As far as the weaving in and out of traffic and cutting people off topic I see equally as many cars (and not just ricers) doing this to me on a day to day basis. You can be an asshole regardless of what you drive. And whether you are in a truck, car, bike or a huge semi you can still hurt people. You shouldn't drive like a douche plain and simple.

Now...its not right that bikes do what they do but you cannot stop them. Let them weave in and out of traffic, split lanes, cut people off and whathaveyou. Its their own life they are messing with. Let the authorities deal with them if the medical examiner doesn't deal with them first. I know this is a phenomenon most often associated with newer riders but more often that not (at least around here) its the experience riders that I hear about on the 11 o'clock news that are dead.

Another thing...drunk drivers. FUCK THEM. ANYONE who drives drunk (or high or anything of the like) is a FUCKING moron. None of this "I'm in control." or "I didn't drink that much." bullshit. Regardless of what you drive or ride, call a fucking cab. You hurt and kill innocent people. Driving drunk strikes a serious raw nerve with me since I was hit by one AS was my brother on his bike. He is okay, I won't ever be the same.

He was simply going through a light that had just turned green, driving 10mph when a guy in a Maxima decided he was too drunk to drive and wanted to go home. The guy made a left hand turn INTO my brother, then proceeded to back up and drive around him. Luckily my brother was okay and his 03 GSXR 600 got fixed. My brother...didn't learn. He still drives like a total asshole, I just hope we don't have to clean him up off the pavement one day.

Nothing you can say or do will change the way people ride. Its exhilaration for them. And though I don't own a bike, I have ridden. I've ridden Busas, CBR 600RR, Ducati 999, R1 and R6, GSXR 600 and a GSXR 750. I KNOW what its like. But never did I ride like an asshole.

I think the main point of this thread was a good one, watch out for people on bikes. They see you, but do you see them? The same should go for people in cars....watch the fuck out when you switch lanes. I drive a BRIGHT pink car and I still get lane changed into.

Be safe everyone. Ride/Drive safely. And for god's sake....stop with the 'cagers' it sounds so stupid.

Let me start by saying that in many states, lane splitting is 100% legal. That's right you fucking faggots...LEGAL. I also carry on my bike and I swear if someone ever threw a milkshake at me you better believe you'd out of your car and your keys in the woods. You complain about our immaturity? Oh, but throwing milkshakes and endangering our lives is real mature? This is exactly why I left this gay ass forum. You're all a bunch of fucking bitches.

Bikes don't endanger your life. Even if a bike hits a car at 100+ mph, the car will not be damaged very severly. I've seen a bike t-bone a car at 70 mph (speed limit was 65) because the car didn't look and pulled out in front of him and the car had barely a dent. The biker lost a leg and has permanent brain damage (WAS wearing a helmet) because some stupid fat fucker didn't look.

Some stupid hillbilly fuck thought it would be funny to run my friend on a bike off the road for no reason. We were riding in the speed limit and just cruising and the truck flew into our lane and the passener flipped us off and my friend flew into a ditch at 50mph and went airborne into a tree. He died. Well I got the guy's plates and they were arrested and now sit in prison getting ass pounded by Tiny.

Fuck all of you, enjoy your day,

Oh, and ban me, I don't care.

Obviously not aware of the recent event that occurred in Washington where a Harley doing 100mph t-boned a Ford exploder and killed not only himself but the people in that SUV.
