I had my 4 wisdom teeth take out years ago as an outpatient at the hospital where they put me under for the procedure. Four hours later they wheel me to the recovery room... apparently there was just a bit of trouble and they had to break out the hammer and chisel.

I remember being in the recovery room and very groggy and feeling sick for a long time... finally threw up what looked like a stomach full of blood and bits of tooth. After that felt well enough to get dressed and make my way out to a waiting car by hanging onto the railings in the hospital.

Looked like a chipmunk for at least a week along with some minor discoloring in the cheeks. Inside of the mouth looked like a midget went wild in there with a mini chain saw but it healed up real nice.

No pain meds whatsoever. Eating was difficult for a few days. I too enjoyed the extra attention during the... uh... extended recovery period. :D

I had a similar experience when I got all 4 of mine out. The doctor told me not to do anything the next day, even though I may feel fine. He was right, I felt fine, with my vicoden. I went outside and sandblasted some parts and worked on my '57 all day. The day after that, my mouth swelled up so bad I couldnt open my mouth enough for a straw to drink with. Black and blue cheeks about 4x the normal size. Then several days of packings that tasted like shit for the 4 dry sockets I managed to give myself.

2-3 weeks later I was mostly back to normal and learned how to eat again.

I had mine taken out when I was 18 I believe. I was not put under. They gabe me laughing gas aka N20. I could feel them pull it out and the roots breaking and shit, but it didn;t hurt. I was just laughing the entire time. :wtf: I ended up getting dry socket, even though I don't smoke and that hurt like a bitch. I had to go up there almost everyday for them to fill the holes with this green stuff that tasted horrible. But it did make the pain go away. The entire weeked sucked ass.

I had mine done in April. They gave me the Vicodin but I hate that shit so I took it for the first couple of days and that was it. My jaw on the right side ended up infected beyond recognition and it was a month long venture of three to four times a week trips to the doctors office so they could deal with the infection because I can't take antibiotics.

Thank god its something that only needs to be done once.....

And the pockets....I felt like a friggin hamster. Everything I ate ended up in the pockets. I had to clean those things out constantly! Beware the pockets.

LOL no pics of the pockets (they were gross) but I have a picture of the bruise once it started to recede. My face was so fat I had no idea that it was there. It was black as hell, this was almost two weeks later that this shot was taken and it was still there.

Image

I've had 13 surgeries and I still have my appendix and my tonsils.....strange shit.

it was bad enough after the accident it took them 6 tries to start an IV.... probably will take them at LEAST that if they knock me out.

I got them too. My holes were crammed with clove powder. AWFUL TASTING! Hurt like hell and there was nothing to cure the pain. :owned:

Trust me its not a walk in the park, when my wife had hers out she was sooo fun to be around. I am lucky I have all four wisdom teeth and they came in straight and true.

lol my dentist when i was like 16 said they are coming in nice, you have plenty of room, you dont' have to get them out unless you want to. around 20 i got xrays again b/c of pain. They were all coming in Sideways lol. I was pissed. Could of had this taken care of 8 years ago.

Two of mine are fine and two are at slight angles.
but they told me theyre gonna take all 4 out.

I wish mine were coming in perfect like yours! lol

Mine never came in, the back of my mouth didn't have enough room for them. They were pushing on the nerve and could have severed it had I left them.

Trinity expect to be on your ass at least a week. Three days...is bullshit. I was on my ass for two weeks. But then again my entire jaw got infected. At one point it looked like someone put a golf ball underneath my skin right on my jaw line towards the front. Oops.

I had 12 shots of some sort of powerful novacane (stuff doesn't really work well for me...) and after sitting there for an hour they finally got it numb enough that I could tolerate them pulling my teeth. 5 mins. later they were out. 10 minutes later I was on my way home. I took Vicadin for the first day then on tylenol for a week. My sister on the other hand had a horrible experience... guess I was lucky.

Sounds like yours weren't impacted. Mine were impacted, I guess I should have said that earlier. If they are impacted its 10x worse than if they are already out.

Dante you are simply tard. :tardbang:

Mine had actually grown out and the dentist removed them because apparently they are hard to keep clean.... I dunno...

I can say that I have sympathy for baby's that are teething.... It really is a pain.

i got mine ripped out last year. i was SUPPOSED to get them done when i was 18 before my parents insurance dropped me since i was out of school... but the dentist couldn't schedule it early enough. i got shafted.

2 years of pure agony, i finally had a job with insurance and got them taken out. they were coming in sideways and actually screwed up my teeth pretty badly... i need to get braces because of them. i just don't want to spend the money.

thankfully though, my surgery went pretty flawless. i woke up asking my girlfriend to put my tongue jewelry back in because i was worried the whole time it would close. i was groggy and disoriented for about 3 hours, but was eating, drinking, and moving just fine about 5 hours later. I never had any issues... i didn't even -need- my vicodine. i took it anyways though. :D i <3 vidodine.

i'm one of the few to have a pretty good experience with wisdom teeth.
