Lownslow, it says you're not on or I'd provide entertainment (in a non Navy type of way)

1)What are you looking to take pictures of? (cars, scenery (interesting stormcloud configurations), random shit...) Yes, all of the above. (notice I took out kids... people don't like me taking those pics anymore.

2)What type of batteries do you want? Rechargeable AA's would be fine since I have them already and can use regular AA's in a pinch. Has to have a slot for a standard SD memory card of atleast 2GB, however.

3)What size camera do you want? Not terribly important, but something medium sized would be fine.

Wow that was harsh. I am trying to help, so what would your questions be? And where exactly do you work?

Circuit City is correct. Can we please stop labelling retail stores, I've heard it all, and it gets very annoying.

Why are we talking about Trinity's box? And more importantly, why is it oddly colored?

Canon Powershot A590 $135 camera, 4x optical zoom, image stabilization, has automatic settings as well some manual control if you want to get into that...

Panasonic DMC LZ8 $170 camera, 5x optical zoom, image stabilization, Leica lens...

Nikon Coolpix P60 $199 camera, 5x optical zoom, vibration reduction, Nikor lens...

Canon Powershot SX110 $279, 10X optical zoom good for longer distance shots, image stabilization, some features as the Canon above...

All these cameras use AA, they take SD memory, decently priced, and they have some nice features.

These where taken with a Sony cybershot dsc-n2 on the auto setting. Probably more then you want to spend but its a damn nice camera.

Sorry, only have pics from iraq to post from it.

It's not the camera that makes the photos.... It's the photographer. All point and shoots are going to look the same if you don't have the skill to take good shots.

Look at Trins shots. She knows what she's doing, and is using a cheap0 camera. Look at everyone elses. They don't look quite as good. They actually look the same, and some cost more.

Unless you know WTF you're doing, it's all going to look the same. Go get some $120 cheapie and you'll be fine.

I agree with this statement.

Just when I was going to agree you had to go make a dumb statement. I don't care how good you are you will never be able to take shots with a 120 dollar camera that will look as good as those same shots with a higher priced better quality camera. Look at the ISO rating of these cheap camera's they do OK, maybe even good in lighted situations but the second you get into low light or multiple focus point situations they will take crappy shots.

For example yes trinity can take some good shots but the one of the band is out of focus, the one with the motor oil is good if you just take a quick look but with a better camera the car behind it would have been much clearer and brighter.

Of course.

...and that difference is that the Panasonic has 4 more letters in the name.

I'm not buying a camera from a company that also makes vacuum cleaners and microwave ovens. That has FAIL written all over it.
