When will we learn.....STOP BUYING ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA...DO THEY BUY FROM US...NO

I'd be really curious to know "who" gets the job of gathering these things.....since they are already "used".....do they have people going door to door every morning making collections from the "night before"....?? Geesh.....I've heard of folks washing plastic baggies and such to reuse them, but this is a bit strange to say the least......

Now I think I have heard everything. That is just nasty! Thank you very much to our U.S. government who is so concerned about making money so they send our jobs overseas.

Be cautious of hair bands at open markets around the city too – they are probably from China since they are purchased in bulk very, very cheap !!!! Take a good look before buying hair bands in future – specially like the following kind…..

..

These Hair bands were made from used condoms and threads.
That was so disgusting; I would not want to use them!!

BEIJING (AFP) - Used condoms are being recycled into hair bands in southern China threatening to spread sexually-transmittable diseases they were originally meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday.

In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colorful rubber bands and hair ties sell well ..... threatening the health of local people,' it said. Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying. A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 s en (three cents), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal. China’s manufacturing industry has been repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both domestic and foreign markets.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems.

Check your kids hair bands and make sure they do not put them in their mouth while trying to plait or tie their hair .

Considering the pet food scandal last year and the current baby formula one, this wouldn't surprise me if it is true even if does sound far-fetched. Why Americans will take a chance on foreign-made commodities just to save a few cents is beyond me.

Because a lot of stuff is not life critical. Who the fuck needs the safest paper plates if they're....made out of paper?

There are tons of items from China that don't lack quality. It's all in what you buy.

Yeah, but what a price this country pays when Americans lose their jobs to cheap imports.

I always look at where a product is made. I rarely buy anything from China, simply because I believe in supporting American companies first. My job (fasteners manufacturing) has been directly affected by Chinese imports, so it bothers me to see people buying the cheap crap that comes over here. Rarely will I support companies that promote making their products out-of-country, as opposed to making them here on our own soil.
Don't get me started, plz...

I am more concerned about outsourcing as well. You would think that something made in our own country would be cheaper than something thousands of miles away :tardbang:
