92-95 lude..

Post by Skinny_tires » Sun Sep 21, 2008 3:01 pm

what do you guys think of those? im thinkin of sellin my 01 dakota v8 4wd to get one..

i have the neon, dont want to afford the truck for gas...they have good power, good handling..they can run a 15 flat stock...(good driver of course)..but i do miss vtec..:(...i just love the way it sounds when it kicks...i used to have an s2000 which is of no comparison to the lude, but still a honda.

I was thinkin 97 or newer for the lude, but if i get the older 92-96 then i can save some cash and buy some suspension! :)

still just a thought, havent sold the truck yet..we'll see though..

I'd get a '97-01 myself, but I'm partial to them, having owned a '97 sh. I'm actually thinking about buying another one.

Dang..i love dakota's. I had a '99 x-cab 4cyl 2.5 as my first vehical, thing was slower than balls but i loved it. Is yours the quad cab 4.7?

A good friend of mine has a prelude (a 99 i think) 5spd, its preety quick. He can put between 1-2 lengths on me from 0-60. I dont know about a 15 flat tho, im preety sure his wont do quite that well.

mine is just the club cab..two tone with the scooby type blue and silver bottom..best color combo they have.

Ive seen some myself running a 15.1..not too bad i think...if i get another car though, it better be faster than my neon :)

My buddy had a few ludes that year range (92ish). Nice enough car, PITA to work on compared to the neon though.

The Lude dont look too bad but the V-TAK OMG!! PWNZORZ doesnt seem like it'd be an efficient engine really. Only makes power north of 6K. Its kinda like turbo lag without the boost.

im really debating what to get..a lude or go with a swapped civic hatch...i know you guys dont much like the honda crowd, but i respect those cars for what they can do..and they can do a lot!..just like a lot of people refuse to believe the srt is a FAST car.

im a true car guy, i respect each car for what it is capable of.
Rice is still rice..big body kits and spoilers are gay unless its a widebody kit and the car is tracked :)

There are alot more for the newer Prelude than earlier models. The newer ones are more comfy, are not as prone to that early 90's Honda rear quarter panels (where the bumper cover meets the body seem). They all develop that Honda tick in the engine. They are still pretty cool, I guess. I would rather have the newer one though.

Where are you located? Anywhere near Milwaukee by chance? I have a buddy with a lot out that way that has a great 1999 Prelude with 125K for $7750. It's in near perfect condition. Just high miles. Runs great too. He's a Honda guy and doesn't sell junk. If you are interested, PM me and I will get you his info. It's a red 5 speed by the way.

Seems a little on the cheap side, actually.

How is your luck finding a 15 year old Honda with decent miles? Must be better than mine. And it is a Honda. If taken care of, like most are, it will run for 200K or more without too many issues. Where have you been in life? Try buying an Acura TSX with 100K for less than $13K unless it's totally beaten to death or wrecked.

It still has 100k left in the motor before it needs rebuilt. I'm sure they'd let it go for $5800 or so, nice price for a hot body. I payed 17k for my '97 lude 7 years ago. Of course, it only had 11k miles on it and was supercharged, but who cares.

You don't know what your talking about. :beatstick: if the motor wasn't ran with no oil or over heated for a long time and not beat to death it will easily go for another 100K in stock form.

I would go for the lud over the hatch. I used to work at a honda dealer back in the day and my favorit car on the lot to drive was a used 97 they had. Drove it all the time. I had a 96 hatch for several years and I loved that car but it couldn't match what the prelude could do. Even if I had done a motor swap it still had no weight in the back end and because of that it handled like crap. And when pushed hard would pogo like crazy. Just before I deployed my neighber had a white 97SH he only wanted like 7000 for it had 100K on it. If I had the money I would have goten it in a second.

I am just going to say get the 92-96 prelude. I can't remember WHO I talked to on here but they said the best for modding is those year, non SI with vtec and you can turbo the hell out of them with a 1gn DSM turbo/mani. For less than a grand you can have a fast car!
