As I've mentioned several times on this website, my 1GN achieved high 30's to low 40's on a regular basis. And this was when it had over 100K on it. Who needs a hybrid when you can get mileage like that with nothing fancy to break? Chrysler Group should just build a "retro" 1GN and apply everything learned since the early 90's to improve mileage even further.04 Mo Neon wrote:Sad thing is car are finally being built for decent gas mileage around 40+...

What you have to realize is it is not strictly about MPG, really its about the MPG in relation to the size of the vehicle. A really small car might get 30-40 mpg but really is that something special? It gets good gas because it is small. Now a SUV doing 30-40 is 100 times more impressive. Add 4,000 pounds to your 1GN and then report back to me on you MPG for the week. Might point is getting "good" mileage on small cars is not impressive if the weight to MPG ratio is not there. If the new 2012 SUV hybrids are around 40 mpg at 6,000 pounds then the 1GN should be at 120 MPG. So yeah we have a looonnnggg way to go for compacts. Car companies are getting off way to easy with the smaller cars.Midnight_Rider wrote:As I've mentioned several times on this website, my 1GN achieved high 30's to low 40's on a regular basis. I was just replying to your comment about cars "now" achieving 40+ MPG. Nothing new since my 1995 accomplished that.04 Mo Neon wrote:What you have to realize is it is not strictly about MPG, really its about the MPG in relation to the size of the vehicle.

My '01 in stock form got 40 mpg hwy/32 city. Why can't a Smart Car or Fit get 60 mpg? My nephew's Festiva gets 52 mpg with a carburettor. With today's technology they should be well beyond what they are selling as "efficient".

Hey atleast we own cars that get better mileage than most people. Cost me around 30 dollars per fill up.
Whats the cheapest any of you guys have ever paid for a FULL tank?
Mine was 12.60 for a full tank the day I bought it and drove it back to my city in 05'. I think gas was like .97, 1.07, 1.17 or something along those lines.

lol frak the price people are moving to mass transit. good for them. Less cars on the road means more road for us. I pay
4.55 91 octane about 70.00 a week for the R/T = 280.00 a month
4.09 87 octane about 40.00 a week for the 00 =
160.00 a month
we have no plans on stoping us drive. Work harder/more hours

The average gas price in Ottawa, my old hometown in Canada, is running at $1.31/liter right now.Midnight_Rider wrote:I just thought that you might not know about the GST. When you take into account the price per litre and add the GST and PST (provincial sales tax), gas in Canada can be quite pricey.
To interpret that into a number everyone here can understand...
4.54 liters/gallon
4.54 * $1.31 = $5.95/gallon in Canada
For me, gas in the states is cheap.
2011 Honda Fit Sport
Payed $4.33 a gallon on Camp Pendleton a couple days ago. Prices around base are all over the place. Anywhere from $4.29 to $4.63. This is all for premium btw. Regular is roughly 20 cents cheaper per gallon.
I hear Chicago area is skating around California prices for some reason.

Meh, I fill up my car every 3-4 weeks so it doesn't really bother me.
Now that my wife is dringing a Grand Cherokee that will put a hit on the account a little, but there isn't a car payment anymore so that will balance out.

It was costing me about 40 to fill up the Neon. The Blazer is about 60ish now and I'm getting roughly 12-13 MPG. I still love it and although it sucks to pay that much for gas, I'll gladly deal with it since I love driving so much.

$3.99 around here, but Speedway is running a "sale" all month. Spend more than 3 or 4 bucks and they give you a $.10 a gallon discount on your next fuel purchase. Since I get drinks and stuff there, I have 3 or 4 coupons built up already, haha.
