Haunted houses?

Post by TheRandom1 » Wed Oct 15, 2008 10:28 am

Anybody go to haunted houses? I try to go to at least one a year, this year it looks like The Fear at Navy Pier is getting the nod, what do you think?
A review of that haunted house

I do. Goatman Hollow in MD is great. It's a bit of a drive for me now, but oh so worth it.

The one you posted looks like fun :D

Yours looks like it'll be a bit of a drive for me too, lol, but looks pretty cool!

Do they have people all tangled up in fishnets since it's in an ocean state?

Nope  It is built of the goatman legend which started in Beltsville MD. There is a large government agricultural farm there that is where the experiments where to have taken place.

The metro DC area is home to a lot of strange things believe it or not. I visit many of them in the VA area throughout the year. My friends and I are interested in this sort of thing (haunted areas and the like)

One of these years I want to take the haunted chicago tour... it's a tour of all of the "haunted" places in the area (durh) and sounds facinating.

Of course, it's like 75 or 100 bucks or more so that kind of kills it. Plus it's a few hours for the tour.

That would be a sweet tour, but damn that's pricey

I did the Gettysburg PA tour last year. IIRC it was $20.00 and saw/felt some very powerful stuff there

That could definitely be interesting...

I must have been looking at another site or something, but it's only 28 bucks for the tour... perhaps I'll do that this year too.

I don't believe in ghosts or any of that nonsense. And I am way too goofy to take any real effect on haunted houses. Because it is just like movies. You can expect and can easily see where/when someone will jump out at you. Unless it is pitch black which then it isn't really scarey just jumpy. I went to one last week. Every time someone jumped out I would name them and put them arm around them. Any chicks that were supposed to be dead I was asking for their phone numbers. I would take any monsters that would follow you and put them in front of me acting as if they were part of the group. At one point I jumped to the front of the line and acted as a tour guide. Was hilarious "As you can see here on the right we have an undead mummy. The shit that is around him is really toilet paper. Probably some king or shit. Right this way now....."

:laughing3: I hear ya. Some people don't go into that stuff, and like you said, either you are receptive or you aren't. I have personally experienced too much to doubt anything like that.

I'm the same way, it doesn't scare me, it's just entertaining. We went to a haunted house a couple years ago where they put you in a dog run type of thing to await your tour guide. while we were waiting, a huge dude dressed up comes out and is trying to frighten us.

Well, I was the biggest one in the group, so he walks up to me and just stands there staring at me. Now, i'm 6'3 and this dude had at least 8 inches on me, he was HUGE! But the whole time I was sitting there cracking jokes at him ("You're a big motherf***er, aren't ya?" got a lot of laughs from everyone but him)

But I love stuff like that, and I would love to see a ghost someday if they really are real. That would make my life complete I think.

At one point in a house I was at in past years, there was a rotating tunnel you were in... kind of like the thing in the funhouse at a carnival, but you're on a bridge going through it.

The tunnel was painted white with polka dots all over it, and a strobe light was flashing the entire time. So you're walking through it losing your balance because your mind is playing tricks on you.

Then at the end of the tunnel there was a clown dressed up just standing there... you couldn't see him because of the moving dots and all, but he scared the shit out of me. It was great!

I think stuff like that is good for everybody... lightens up the actors day a bit, and makes me laugh, so it's win win.

The big dude was a great one tho... everyone was rolling laughing, but he was still and silent, not even cracking into a small smile. Big props for that.
