wow, I grew up in orlando, I remember seeing people street race all the time when I was little, when I was there last new years I was sitting out front of the house watching traffic and people speeding and revving were crazy, and my old house (where my aunt lives) is off of goldenrod between university and 50...traffic has gotten so bad in my opinion but then again I live in New Smyrna Beach so at 3 in the morning theres no cars, cops up here are pretty good with stuff like that, small town atmosphere > big city if you ask me, I like when I can drive by and the cops wave because they know me. Good luck with everything though man.

^^^ Could not agree with you more on the small town cops vs Big City cops. Same way it is here around Toledo Ohio. My small town cops = massive pricks. City cops have more important things to do.

Well you have a point, but it depends, see I know alot of the night shift cops because I deliver news papers, That is one of the bad things about small town cops is they get bored so they will stop you for no reason, on the other hand since it's a small town you can get to know some of the cops so they lay off, some of the rookies are like that here but most of the cops are cool, whether it be in edgewater or new smyrna beach...
My friend got pulled over for a light out once when we were on our way to his house once, he's got a 1990 fox body 5.0 stang with alot of work done to it, the cop was a car enthusiast i guess and he was asking all sorts of questions about the car, The guy wanted to see him do a burn out, I myself wouldn't have done it in fear of the cop giving me a ticket after asking me to do it but he did it and the cop thought it was the coolest thing. The cop owns this awesome truck I needa get pics of, I wanna say it's a 2003ish black SS silverado with nice rims.
I have all sorts of stories like that about the cops around here though. there used to be this one area back in oak hill that us kids would go to to build a huge bonfire and drink and party and such. (yes underage drinking is a bad thing I know) and once an oak hill cop managed to somehow get his crown vic back where we were, he didn't turn on the blues but he hit the spotlight, we thought we were all screwed but The only thing he asked is how the hell we got the fire started in the pit since it rained like 3 days in a row, after that he told us to stay out of trouble and left.
/rant and thread hijack sorry about that lol.

Deep scratches and damage on that side. Ripped my passenger mirror off. $1000 worth of damage. Thank god for the low $500 Deductible.
What the fuck else is going to go wrong.

Car is also in the shop for warranty work as well (Valvetrain noise, AC Compressor, and Transmission issue.
What warranty work? The valvetrains are noisy, the compressor cluthes clunk, and the trannys suck on these things LOL.

This car sounds like bad luck man! I could never live in Florida after hearing your story. I'm so sorry to hear about everything that happened. I really hope everything works out in your favor.

Valvetrain rattles more than is normal I compared against a few other SRT's and its a bad rattle. Compressor clutch is going and the tranny ... yeah well your right.
I'm hoping everything works out. I'm beyond broke and can't even pay my rent now. I am beyond words on how quick things can change.

Update:
Yesterday I went to my Docket Hearing. I took the states plea bargin and plead no-contest to Reckless Driving. In exchange the state agreed not to persue the Street Racing on the Highway Charge.
My lawyer argued for and got a withhold of adjudication without probation and the Judge gave me the following:
$600 in Fines
50 Hours of Community Service
8 Hour Agressive Driving/Street Racing Course
The above sentencing is due to be completed by April 20th. Everyone tells me I'm lucky and that I should be happy. I thinks its bullshit because I didn't do anything that warrants the criminal charge that now shows on my record. Its a hollow victory where the state wins and I loose. Florida Sucks, Seminole County Sherriffs suck. At least its over.

I would have plead not guilty. If you didn't do it, there's obviously no evidence, and if the charge has a possibility of jail time, they have to call in a jury.

There was no evidence for or against the case however, the Deputy's word would have been enough for them to likely get a conviction and because the other party involved has multiple priors in street racing and claims we were racing (we werent), there was a damn good chance I would loose.
It simply was a shitty situation.

He claimed you were racing? Why in hell would he do that? He obviously doesn't know the golden rule "DENY DENY DENY"

I didn't. I pleaded no-contest. It means I'm not pleading guilty but I'm not pleading innocense either. They also withheld the conviction as well. Its not a bad deal in the sense of the charge but pretty shitty considering I didn't do it.
You guys have to understand the Florida Laws and the general outcome of these cases in Florida. If I would have gone to trial and gotten convicted, I would have gotten the following at a minimum:
*1 Year Suspended License
*$1500 in Fines
*Possible Jail Time
*Probation
the list goes on. Because I had no evidence I wasn't racing other than my words, I likely would have lost in court.

But if the other guy would have also peaded innocent it's a 2 on 1 and it would have to be overturned, IMHO. I think the other guy screwed you over, not to mention the cop being a jackass...

I really do not like cops. The bad apple ones that is. You know, the ones that got bullied in highschool and now taking all their anger out on society.
Sorry you got screwed over man. the judicial system is messed up. They are just in it for the $$$.

lol
Sorry to hear about the ticket and the outcome though it's better than it could have been. I kinda figured the guy would say you were racing because a lot of street racers are dicks (at least here) and if they're going down they're gonna take you with them, it's simple as that.
When I was in N. Wildwood I got pulled over for
A.) Failure to keep right (highway, keep right pass left)
B.) Loud/modified exhaust
I could understand the exhaust.. it was an SRT exhaust on an SXT but as far as the other ticket I was passing people so in all reality I was in the right to be in the left lane. it was a 50mph zone and I was going 53, passing people moderately. My favorite part of all this was the prosecutor.
"Why were you in the left lane?"
" was doing 53-54 mph in a 50 mph zo..."
"So you were speeding?!"
"No, I wasn't. 5mph and over the speed limit is speeding, I was headed down a bridge and that isn't the issue in question here.. my issued tickets are.. But like I was saying I was passing a few cars as is but I looked up about 1/4-1/2 mile down the road at the red light and the line of traffic in the right lane and no one in the left so I stayed in my lane because it's a quick light and I knew it was going to be green by the time i got there. I overtook about 10-20 cars before I passed the light in which 4 more cars were not up to speed and I passed them by the time the officer turned on his lights to pull me over."
"Really now? you sure that's the TRUE story"
"I'm sorry? Just because I'm 18 doesn't mean you can sit here and harass me. My father was in the car at the time and he's a veteran. Would you like to speak with him?"
"No, that's alright. Now about the exhaust"
"It's Stock, OEM equipment off of a Dodge Neon SRT-4. Original Equipment Manufacturer, meaning it came that way from the factory. There are factory Harley Davidsons that are louder than my car and you don't pull then over and issue them this ticket."
"Do you ride a Harley Davidson?" <<
"..Uh..? No? it's a car, a Dodge Neon SXT."
"They're loud for a safety reason, you know. They have to be seen and heard so people won't hit them."
"And I can't be heard, too? I don't want to be hit either."
"Fair enough"
I walk out and 10 mins later get called back and was told they were dropping the failure to keep right ticket ($190 and 4 points) as long as I plead guilty to the exhaust (45 + court cost) I said what ever and plead guity to the exhaust. We all know an SRT exhaust on an SXT is crazy loud so yeah.
And what makes this all just soo hysterical.. 3 months later my accusing officer was arrested, tried and convicted for sexually harassing a 12 year old girl.

NEVER tell a cop you have an aftermarket/altered computer in your car!! Just say you disconnected it to work on it and you need it to relearn...

I told him I had reset it after and OBD port check for engine codes. He was not a stupid cop. After seeing 4 gauges mounted to the dash and a-pillar, he knew what was up.

So, they are going to teach you how to be an agressive driver/street racer?
I got a $125 ticket for having a blinker out. Statey came running to my window yelling at me, asking if I had a probelm with driving. I of course fought it, got let off with the failure to signal($25), but still had to pay the lane violation($100). She said I was lucky the cop didn't write me up for speeding, he made a note on the ticket that I was. Thing that pissed me off the most, was they let me go with the failure to signal, which caused the lane violation. I changed lanes to pass a guy doing at most 10mph in a 30, so I wasn't speeding.

I see. it's still an assumption and thus you could have fought it easily.
