Neon vs..... Sprinter?

Post by Nutmeg » Tue Oct 21, 2008 12:22 am

Not the Dodge Sprinter van, but a person- sprinting.

Today in physics we started studying acceleration. So for the demo, we used a car's acceleration compared to that of a person sprinting. The teacher asked if there was a fast car, and I said I'd do it (naturally). Anyway, it had rained all morning and the parking lot behind the science building where we ran was absolutely slick. So I knew I wasn't going to get any traction at all.

Anyway, the distance we were "racing" over was like 40 feet. Apart from my class that was gathered to watch, people came out of an autobody class to watch too. It was fun. So I think we did three runs. The first time, I got zero traction and let off, dropping the clutch pretty high (around 3k on stock tires). The second time I dropped it a little lower and spun all the way through first and second. The third time I barely launched at all, but once I gave it a bit of gas in first, I just started spinning.

The runner either beat me or was just about the same with me each time, but it was pretty fun nonetheless. My acceleration was like... 9 m/sec per second if anyone is curious. I didn't once look at boost, but yeah. So if you are ever curious how fast you are compared to humans, do what I did.

Sounds like fun. That short of a distance in wet weather with an SRT engine = going no where fast. 1st gear is pretty much useless when its wet out side.

Was the runner apart of track and field?

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.

Yeah, but he's actually a distance runner. He runs sub 5 minute miles.

No, usually people don't say too much about the Neon. Once people hear me drive by or hear about the swap, they're pretty impressed.
