Ebay digital cameras?

Post by Tam » Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:11 am

Has anyone gotten a digital camera from one of those ebay powersellers for really cheap?

I wanna get a 12 megapixel camera from ebay and i always find alot that are constantly ending with a bid around $70 shipped.

I just wanted to get your inputs on them first before I buy one. (I need a better camera than my phone's lol)

I always hear crap about auto parts on ebaymotors and I agree that most things car-related sucks on there...but for cameras? I dunno.

don't do it. i bought one for around that price and it was shit. if it's a no name brand then it'll prolly suck. i ended up buying a simple point and shoot nikon for around 100 bux and i'm way happier with it.

Brand is a thing you don't want to skimp on when it comes to Cameras...what are you looking into getting?

yeah ive looked at the ones that are listed at a penny or whatever and end up being 50-70 .. but in the end i didnt want to spend that much on a generic camera when for a few bucks more theres brand name.

granted just about anything will be a step up from a camera phone but you might as well do it right the first time so you dont have to get another camera after you find the generic one is junk

with the ebay/paypal 30% back in mind, i did a quick search for a camera... came up with a Kodak EasyShare Z1275 (12 MP) for $128 (free shipping), brand new (item number 110301456235) (lowest price on Amazon is $150)... heres a review http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_rev ... z1275.html (did not read the review so dont know what it says about features/quality/etc) and with the cashback rebate it would end up being $90... not a bad price if the camera is good.

use this as an example of what you can do with ebay...

Honestly. Just buy a cannon or something. I got my 8mp Cannon A630 for like $125 or something. Then a 2 gig card for another 15 on sale. Awesome camera. You will be much happier with it than a cheap ebay knock off

buy the nicest Canon or if you prefer, Sony camera you can find in your price range. Check craigslist and see if you can find someone with a cheap one with good reviews. Memory cards are cheap online on deal sites.

Never buy some no name brand POS if you even think for a second that it could be a POS. Why waste your time or your money if you have to buy it twice?

It's a basic rule of life, really. Buy the best you can afford. Cheap stuff temporary at best. Spend it right the first time and keep it for the long haul.

In this case, the MP doesn't really matter too much, as long as it has good quality.

I want to get something that can take pictures and record video.

I'm not too knowledgable on cameras but does point-and-shoot mean a camera that only takes pictures?

Does that one record video?

pretty much all digital cameras will record video... just look at the specs for the camera and it will say..

for the camera i linked, from the review:
You can record 1280 x 720 HD, 640 x 480 or 320 x 240 motion video with audio at 30 frames per second. The length of the movies is dependent on available space on your memory card. Unlike most cameras, the optical zoom can be used while recording. The addition of the HD (720p) mode is a feature not found on most digicams.
but if you look at a more conventional website like Best Buy or Circuit City or someplace like that it may or may not specifically mention video recording.. so in the specs under file types you might see AVI (video file), or a "Movie Mode" spec, or something like that..

point-and-shoot simply means that its......... simple. you just point and shoot.. unlike a SLR camera where youve typically got to manually focus the lense, set settings for everything, etc...
