That's awesome man. I found an 88 conquest tsi for sale local that I want really bad. For the valves and valve guide problem I'd just pull the head, take it to a shop, and have them spec it out and replace the stuff. It'd cost you maybe $250. Or go onto a starion/conquest forum and see if anyone has parts for you.

So many neons so little time.

Yep, the valve guides are fairly common on the 2.6's. Also have the balance shaft/oil pump chain replaced. They tend to break with high mileage. There are also kits to retroift to the industrial engine oil pump drive. It eliminates the balance shafts tho, but in my '87 Raider, I really couldn't tell the difference. With the head off, you just need to pull the crank pulley and the timing cover to access the chain. It isn't all that complicated of a proceedure.
Congrats on the car! I would love to have the Starion engine in my Raider!

Cool car!
Congrats
Keep it out of the snow/salt - they tend to rust pretty bad, from what I've seen.

NICE!!!!
I have always liked the Conquest/Starion.
The 87-89 widebody's look better too IMO.
If I had the room or money for another "toy," it would either be a Conquest TSI or a GLHS Omni. (Yes, an Omni) Haha.

The Shelby Omni's (GLHS & GLH) were incredable sleepers!!
They handle very well, and with a 2.2 turbo with 146 hp (GLH) or 175 hp (GLHS) they were quite fast!! I know that doesn't sound like a lot of hp, but in such a small and light car.......well, you can figure it out.

Turbo Dodges in general FTW! That reminds me, I saw a mint looking white Spirit R/T yesterday. I was shocked. Don't see too many of them around here, especially in nice shape.
Nice Starquest you got yourself there! SRT-4 swap!!

I went with Turbo K-car brakes myself. I didn't do the 4-5 lug conversion.
Gratz on the car

I still remember getting the '88 & '89 Conquests at our dealership when I was younger. Very sexy beasts

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

2.6 = G54B w/balance shafts 4g54 = no balance shafts, IIRC.

I know a kid who has one that looks and drives nice. Needs a few things a but he fubar'd a few things as well because he was lazy. like he didn't want to drop the gas tank to access the fuel pump so he tin snipped out the trunk area.
I might buy it for a beating tool for $400. He wants $600 but I won't pay that for a car he destroyed on purpose. LOL

Now that I look at it, those look like Mustang Cobra R wheels that every 5.0 mustang in the world has some replica of.
