There's not a single person on this forum who will see a tax increase under obama.. unless they are very discreet about their income.
In fact you'll get more of a tax cut than you would have under Mccain.
you are aware of this, right?

obama hasnt done anything that makes him qualified to be president... hes got no relevant experience.. but then again this is america so you dont really need experience to be president.. we love to elect fuck ups
im not sure which would have been worse, a president with no qualifications (obama) or a vp with no qualifications (palin)... i think this was more of social experiment conducted by the puppeteers.. would we vote for a black president or a female vice president... i guess when it came down to it the country would still rather have a man at the reigns even if he were black.. and you can take that however you wish, because like it or not the election was about race.. just look at one of the headlines "obama wins women, blacks, hispanics"... 3 groups of people that are still discriminated against all voted for the black nominee... just a coinsidence i guess.
but obama fits the description of the anti-christ.. so we'll see i guess...
oh yeah, and with a democrat in the oval office, and more democratic control in the senate/congress.. say goodbye to more of your rights...

I agree that small businesses will be hurt a lot, especially here in WA, but you don't understand what socialism is I'm afraid. Socialism, stemming from Marxism aims to get rid of a class-based society. Obama is just very liberal in his fiscal views, he's not a Marxist.
And socialism isn't bad if it's executed correctly per se. Just so you know. You should have more valid reasons on why I shouldn't root for the big O. If my name were Mohammad, should I not be president because that name has ties to the middle east? C'mon, really?

No it won't at all. Haha..
Taxes will be raised for high income families.... (upper-middle class)
Taxes will be cut for lower income families.... (lower-middle class)
I see a classist society.

About college, naturally I don't have the... 40k a year for college right now. We won't get financial aid from the government for school. So I work to pay for college, I've worked in school for good grades for scholarships and whatnot... I just don't have that kind of money. My parents really don't either, that's why it's such a pain. It's not a burden on them by the way....

You know what, screw it. I hate talking politics. For those of you who voted for Obama, congratulations, America is now Fucked. I'll be here laughing and saying, "I told you so" when everyone wakes up and and starts to wonder why the hell Obama got office. It's sad that we are going to have to sit and watch the country get torn apart from what the founding fathers fought hard to create. There will be change, change for the worse. Oh, and when Obama brings the troops home early from Iraq, don't go crying when those were fighting over seas follow the troops over and bring the fight to your back yard.

In the last election for bush he had a higher rate of hispanic votes for him than McCain did this year. The Majority voted for obama, but there were still others that still believed in McCain apparently. Don't be mad because people are pissed off at the republican party and want something done right now, so don't go saying it was completely about race...that is also ignorant.
I swear this thread is full of ignorance, please tell me the claims you have of obama being associated with the anti-christ? Do not say his religion or his name cuz its redundant.
And just because there will be more democratic control in the senate/congress doesn't mean our rights will be gone. Not all the democrats in the house will agree with Obama on all his views, therefore it will still be pretty balanced along with the remaining republicans in the house...There will still be order...

I feel you on that. I was APE SHIT excited about going to UT in Austin...living out of town, partying in the dorm, getting shit wasted with all the hot ass girls up there...
Then the reality of the $15k a year hit me. There was no way in fuck I was going to take out a loan like that
I'm glad you don't view it as a burden to your parents, but I do...even though they do have the money to send me there. Which at times pisses me off
I thankfully was poor enough to get financial aid and do the junior college thing for now.

Are you serious? This country is already fucked thanks to 8 years of a Bush administration. And you think that things can change for the worse? You think that bringing troops home from Iraq is a bad thing? Iraq has a $79 billion dollar surplus that we've been bankrolling. We have a deficit at home because of this current administration and we're financing the growth of a country we're at war with. I highly doubt that those that we're fighting overseas are going to "follow the troops over" and "bring the fight to your back yard". This war is a waste. We've already pretty much annihilated the Iraqi army...the US army is just there as a military presence to keep the peace now, there isn't much fighting anymore...
Fucking republicans & their unnecessary wars.
Even myself I would usually lean more towards being a republican, but in no way, shape or form, could I ever stand to see another 4-8 years of the same bullshit Bush administration. He's a fucktard and has royally fucked this country over so hard its not even funny.
McCain voted WITH Bush 90% of the time, yet magically decided to DENOUNCE Bush as the whole 08 campaign was coming to an end.... HOW does that make any sense what so ever, people say he's not another Bush, BUT HE IS, no two ways around it, HES ANOTHER Bush!
Sure, ok, I don't agree with everything that Obama believes, but you'll never have a candidate you completely 100% whole-heartedly agree with. There are some things that I think Obama is immoral about, but there are far more things that I can see in the McCain campaign that will hurt this country even more than it already is.....
Lemme put it to you this way:
The country is headed down hill, nothing is going to stop that. The difference between the two is that with Obama, itll still go down hill, where with McCain, he'd shove a giant rocket up the ass of the middle class and rocket us downhill even faster than ever before. END OF STORY.
Yeah, politics is a touchy subject, but guess what, it's mine and everyone elses God given right to be able to speak on it. Live with it, Obama is going to be in office, and it's only 4 years. You think we're so fucked, take a look at the past 8 years and ask yourself again how another 4-8 years of the same shit will improve this country at all.

Yes yes America is fucked, Obama is in office now etc etc because apparently the country was cruise controling its way into greatness before
HE was elected. Maybe if we
PRAY harder our national debt will vanish? The sooner the republicans stop being angry and realise that america didn't fail them, they failed america, the sooner they can start rebuilding the party into something actually relevant beyond the church and xenophobia.
On a lighter note, Butte county voted yes for butte protection in Californias heated ban gay marriage proposal.

I'm not really good at keeping up with politics, but lemme tell ya I've enjoyed reading the two pages this thread has already grown to lmao.
Oh, and me being in the Marines, I
highly doubt that we'll just stay in America next year and not deploy. Not to mention that our focus is not on Iraq anymore (shit, the country has been turned over to the Iraqi police and like someone mentioned, whatever US presence is there they're just policing.. there's not much fighting). The focus has been turned to Afghanistan. When we were there this year, the fighting was heavy. People who went to Iraq last year and then to Afghanistan with us this year even said the fighting was a lot more dense.
But yea, like I said... I don't do politics much (yea yea, I'm in the military.. whatever..) so all I can really say is: 1) It seems no matter who gets elected, EVERYONE always seems to hate the new President. Every fucking time. I bet McCain could of made President and the same people bitching about Obama would moan and cry about McCain being elected. 2) I doubt we won't still deploy troops. Don't take this all gungho or shit, because I am totally not (I hate my job and how underpaid we are), but we're Marines.. we don't babysit a nation, we fucking take it over. That's why they've already pulled Marines out of Iraq and, if I remember correctly, they're keeping Army/AF there to help police the country.
(I probably didn't make much sense, but whatever lmao..

I want to play!)

Good things about this years election:
-Change
-Medical Marijuana is legal
-Stem Cell research is go!
-Doctor assisted suicide is permitted!
Most depressing thing so far though is Prop 8 passing. I can't believe it. I for one have a LOT of gay friends that DESERVE to be married to each other. They're more in love than I've ever seen a straight couple be. It's bullshit to even consider baning something like this. I thought this country was all about equal rights???

I see both sides and understand people have their preferances for whatever reason. I do think that there were a lot more republicans that voted for Obama tho instead of democrats voting for McCain. Also if you don't really understand politics and just go on what your family thinks or info from friends then don't even stress your opinion if you don't really know the real reasons you voted for who you did. Also some people just vote within your party lines which is ok in some cases. All in all I do feel Obama will prove to be a better President than Bush but we will see with time. We all have to live with it and hopefully change can come about for all of us for the greater good!!
also, im sure most of u have seen some of the stats but for those of you who haven't and may be interested. here you go.....

No argument here. These issues have been around for quite some time and Republicans would rather bury their heads in the sand and hope they go away. They won't, and
change is needed. I agree that gay couples should be allowed to marry. Who the hell does it hurt? Oh, that's right...it affects the religious sensibilities of the right

How silly of me.

Yesterday was one of the most touching, incredible days America has witnessed in a long time..... This election result was historic in so many ways, but most importantly, it has proven one thing, and that is the decency of the majority of American people!
McCain, and as much as I respect him, has ran on a platform of hate and fear along side with his

ing running mate (hopefully we never ever see her again), The tactic is a very simple and effective one, repeat half-truths and inaccuracies until they resonate and scare people.... and that has been the nature of politics in this country for the last 8 years (thank you Fox News by the way!!). That's how you fuck-up a nation, scare them until they stop using their heads....... this is not a new tactic, and is commonly used by politicians all over the world, especially in times of instability....
But the decency of Americans came through , finally!!!! they saw through all that crap and said enough is enough!!!! Barack Obama might not be perfect, but he is an intelligent, educated, and respected man who will take this country forward, no doubt about it

and he for a change, because of his eloquence and rationality, can be a good representative for this country internationally, and restore much of its lost credibility ....
It was definitely a great day that will be remembered !!!! Go Obama
