Finnally got a ticket....

For "amplified music". So Yesterday i gave my friend and his lady a ride to a local rim shop to check up on their rims(duh).. And on the way back to his house i pass a cop, im doin less than the speed limit and have the music up to about 20 which is about my normal listening volume and isnt loud to me at all. I pass this cop at an intersection and he proceeds to follow me. I had the feeling i was guna get pulled over so i jus drove thru my usual route. and after tailing me for about half a mile wouldnt you know he throws on the sirens... i pull over, bust out laughing, get my license n the rest of the bullshit they ask for. I wasnt told y i got pulled over untill after he wrote the ticket.

I would try to fight the ticket but theres no sense cuz of this ...

"VC27007-27007. No driver of a vehicle shall operate, or permit the operation of, any sound amplification system which can be heard outside the vehicle from 50 or more feet when the vehicle is being operated upon a highway, unless that system is being operated to request assistance or warn of a hazardous situation."

He was about 100 to 200 feet away so basicly im fucked. I just figured i would share

Its not a moving violation, I think. so no surcharge, just pay it and turn down the radio wehn you pass a cop.

you could argue the highway point... 50 feet on a street and 50 feet on a highway is a huge difference when it comes to what you can hear..

You typically have to be blasting it REALLY loud to get a cops attention. "20" doesn't sound like a setting i'd be willing to try around a cop...you should've rolled up the windows or turned the music down. Would've saved you the $150 or whatever you're gonna have to pay

Fuck so yesterday i go check our P.O. box and my court notice letter shit was sittin there. i open it up in the car and my fine is $203 motha fuckin dollars. Now ima have to go to court n get an extension and some sort of payment plan goin cuz i gots no way to pay this. Anyone wana donate...??

I still havent "learned my lesson" I put the system in my car so i could bump it, but i do cruise around at times wit the bass at -12. I jus think its BS that i should have to pay THAT much. $120-150 I can deal with but fuck 200 thats almost as much as my first speeding ticket. Could it be beause of my driving record that its this much??

Check the law/ordinance you violated thats listed on the ticket. You should be able to look it up online. It may say what the maximum fine for the offense.
