There is a guy with a wrecked R/T and he has the side skirts up for sale for 100 bucks. They are black and in perfect shape. So my question is, is this a decent price? Also too I know I have to drill into the car to install these, so is there a possibility of the lower part of the car rotting out. I mean I do live in Buffalo so with all the snow and shit I dont want to end up with a shitty rust bucket in a few years. Any ideas on how much it might cost to repaint them by any chance as well? I might just buy them for resale to i dont know yet. Thanks

Mike

$100 is a steal for the RT skirts. They're rare by todays standards.

Expect to pay another $100 to have them painted, possibly a bit more or less, depending on the body shop and what color you want it.

As far as drilling the frame goes, I see your point on rust. I wouldn't think that is would be an issue, as long as you do a good job and keep the holes to a minimum. You could silicone the screw's threads and around them as an added assurance.

Thanks for the help. I migth just leave them black because I have the SRT front and a black SRT hood and the lower lip on the bumper is black so it might flow well. I might also look like shit...

Not exactly it but should give you an idea:

Just how rare are R/T skirts? I may or may not have another set of them.

They're starting to get pretty hard to come by. I'd hang on to them if I were you.

Anytime you drill holes in your car and also live in the "salt belt" you increase the risk for rust to find a place to start... although some say that is an acceptable risk.

The screws that came factory with the kit had a sealant built onto them. It was very effective at sealing the holes to prevent rust!

They do? Just plastic trim push pins from factory on mine.

Yeah, they are coated so when you screw them in, they seal the holes they just made.

The kit comes with those, and you utilize the ones in the fender wells on the ends.

Get them while you can.

I almost had a pair of those about a year ago but the lack of funds couldn't get me to do it. :(

Yep, just did my side skirts today and when you screw in the screws, it's got that gooey shit on 'em. I drilled a total of... 20 holes under the car, 10 on each side, but I'm confident that the screws will do what they were designed for. If not.. well.. fuck.. lol.

I take it these are buying the kits from mopar? All the factory ones Ive ever seen are just the push pins. Can you get the screws separate? I like that idea much better

The kit has self tapping screws with glue on the tips to seal them. As you stated, factory RTs are held on by the plastic push buttons. I wasn't aware of that until a few months ago, but yes, they both attach differently.

You need to paint them. Two-toned lip kits look horrible and they make you look too cheap to paint your parts.

Use washers with whatever bolts you use...mine came off using 100% OEM materials that came with the skirts.

Use washers.

I might pick them up and resell them and then buy skirts that match my paint from another member...

That probably won't really be that lucrative for you in the end. Maybe you should just repaint these ones.
