Yield to pedestrians dumb @$$!

So I just got back from taking my girl out to the beach for a date. All went well and we were even the cause of someone who possibly got a ticket or a warning. And now, the rest of the story:
My girl and I were sitting on the beach talking when she had to use the restroom. The closest most logical place to go was the gas station across the street. So we picked up the blanket and threw it in my trunk and went to the cross walk that in the middle of the road.
I hit the button for the lights to flash so that if any cars came down the road they would know that people are crossing and they would need to slow the fuck down and stop. Mind you, this is not at a red light, it's just a street crossing with signs and flashing lights.
So we cross the street and head into the Hess where we both use the rest room. When we came back out we walked down to cross the street again at the same cross walk. I hit the button for the lights again and checked the road. I see three cars coming down so I wait at the edge of the road to see if they stop, after all, there is a big sign that says "State Law, Yield to Pedestrians" or something like that. Two of the three cars go flying past, the third stops, a police officer. Me and my girl cross the street, and I give a little "Thank you" wave to the cop.
When we reach the median, the cop guns it and takes off, I turn to my girl and say, "I bet he;s going to go after one of those cars that didn't stop." We get to the other side of the road and look down the direction the cop had gone. He was right on the ass of an SUV that had blown by us. My girl and I were like, "Is he going to pull him over?" And sure enough, the lights came on. We don't know if he got a ticket or a warning, but we just grabbed the blanket back from my trunk and went back out on the beach.
And now you know, the rest of the story.

... I found this out the hard way. In Washington, if the pedestrian is on the other side of the yellow lines on a road with more than two lanes you can proceed. I did this in Reno (making a right hand turn) without thinking about it and got screwed. I went to court to explain my innocent mistake and got "Welcome to Nevada" and had to pay the fine
