I did a number on a few of my fingers in my left hand 10 years ago, but they weren't fully detached. The doctors were saying that chances were that they would just die and have to be removed anyway, but I got lucky, being a healthy 16 year old kid at the time and they survived almost with full mobility. I understand how you feel man. It's no fun to think about all the things you can't do anymore.

There is a pedal you step on to start the cycle and i was cleaning out something and accidentally hit it. When you hit the pedal a guard slams down on the wood (my hand in this case) and a 24 inch blade(1/4 in. thick) comes up from the bottom.

Yes im getting workmans comp and my bills are paid.

The only part that hurt was the guard slamming down

It really sucks that this happened, but this is why all equipment should be removed from power prior to being serviced or cleaned.

NFPA79 would have saved your hand.

Dear god...that is pretty insane! The picture with the finger and thumb completely dead is blowing my mind. It almost doesn't even look real.

Best of luck to you with getting this sorted as best as it can be. Bummer that you are right-handed. I'm sure that has been quite a change.

Wow dude.... its funny how some things hurt, like the guard coming down vs the blade cutting.

Sucks that they couldn't get them reattached :(

Best of luck on the recovery yo.

my arm bruised up, they had to cut my wrist to get my tendons back up to my fingers. When i cut them off the tendons retracted into my wrist.

How hard has it been trying to become left handed? I would think the biggest and most difficult thing would be writing...just wow.
