I know this may be a waaayyy off-topic post, but that's why this forum is here, right?

Anyways, I'm coming down with a big sinus 'episode' and it's killing me... Can anyone recommend their favorite OTC drug or something they heard works good?
Here's what I've tried in the past and now:
Zinc Dietary Supplements (30mg - I take 1 daily when I'm getting sick)
Zicam (Zinc Nose Swab things - Tried in the past, wasn't too impressed)
Vitamin C Dietary Supplements (100mg - I take 2 daily when I'm getting sick)
Typical Sudafed and other cheap stuff can be added to that list. I don't care what the price is, because when I get sick, I
GET sick and it's rough...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

is it due to a cold, allergies, or sinus infection?
if its a cold.... i'm a big fan of nyquil and sudafed, makes you sleep good... make sure you take lots of liquids.
alleries: claritin-d (depends on how bad), I NEED prescription drugs (flonase and zyrtec)
infection: see your M.D.

Do not read this if you're easily grossed out.
I'm not too sure what it is, really. It's starting in my sinuses... I think I might visit the doctor anyways because I've had really good insurance through my work for the past 3 years and never used it yet. I do know that I hacked up phlegm with some blood in it once this morning when I woke up and it's probably not a good thing.

Maybe the dry air was irritating my sinuses or something and made them bleed.

sinuses are cavities in the front of the skull, i don't think its your sinuses that are bleeding, perhaps your mucos membranes in your nasal passageways (did i sound smart on that one?). best bet is go see the doctor.

You may cough up a few thin streaks of bright red blood or see it on tissues when you blow your nose. This is probably caused by tiny blood vessels breaking in the nose or throat from coughing or blowing the nose. This is not a cause for concern unless it increases or persists.

hmmm, when my bro moved to Minnesota from Kansas he was not used to the dry climate up there as opposed to Kansas's humid climate. He got really bad sinus allergies and had all the symptoms you are talking about. My mom who i s anurse told him that it was probably a sinus infection, and for him to go to the doctor. He did so and she was right. He got hooked up with some antibiotics and felt really good. My sinuses lately have been killing me too...sneezing, stuffy nose, itchy throat and my eyes felt really dry too. I took advil cold and sinus and that didn't really work......So I got some of this Tylenol Severe Allergy..bright red box..That shit opened everything up and it didn't make me drowsy. Thats just my 2 cents.

Thanks for everyone's responses... I never had sinus problems until I worked at K-Mart when I was 17 in the Garden Center...

I think that kinda of destroyed everything as far as my nose goes.

I don't feel any worse today and haven't seen anymore blood so I think I might hold off on the doctor and see if it passes quicker since I've been popping Zinc tablets. I will, however, venture out the store later and snatch up some Tylenol Severe Allergy. I don't think I've tried that yet. Thanks again, everyone!
