I got 80% which stinks since I drive for a living.
I would like for GMAC to explain to the state trooper citing me for speeding when merging onto the freeway ("But officer, I was only trying to merge at the same speed of the interstate traffic!") when most people on interstates exceed the posted speed limit (I don't).

Therare bad drivers all over.

I used to drive tractor/trailer across the country for a living and would come across bad drivers everywhere.

The most "fun" would be during winter when the conditions were bad but the temperature was above freezing. I would be watching my outdoor temperature gauge gradually drop and start adjusting my own driving for what I knew would become slick conditions... sure enough when it did drop below freezing there would be 4-wheelers in the ditch and tractor/trailer units jackknifed all over the place.

You all do know that the number 1 spot on the list is the best state and number 51 on the list is the worst driving state..

Here is a small quote from the website..
The worst drivers in America live in New York. Of course, you knew that. You've been in the Holland Tunnel. But now, we have proof.

GMAC Insurance has released the results of its National Drivers Test for 2009. The test, which measures basic knowledge of driving laws, was given to more than 5,000 drivers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia -- and New Yorkers finished last. Last year's loser, New Jersey, improved its score just enough to leap over New York. Hawaii, California and Georgia rounded out the bottom five.

Idaho and Wisconsin drivers tied for the highest average score, with an 80.6.

Just think if the drivers near you suck... wonder what it would be like to drive in NY!

Notice how 10 of the 12 worst states are on the East Coast >.< Doh.

Thank god Maryland is down towards the bottom, or I would have severely questioned the validity of this ... lol.

90%

#1.

If there isn't a crosswalk, the pedestrian is in the wrong. They're getting the horn, not a stop from me so I can get rear ended.

#8.

One of the main things wrong with this country lol. In Europe, drivers are good because they are taught with laws that make SENSE. The reason why our left lanes are congested with dumbass slow drivers is because it's not illegal to pass on the right here. Arg.

I got a 90%. I don't think I've ever seen a diamond-shaped street sign in my life.

Looking at the list in the original post, I'm glad that New York is officially worse than Massachusetts. Mass drivers are regarded as the worst drivers around, but I can't stand going through New York.

Got that right!

Trying to merge on the highway is a pain.. Its not the cars coming by you that is the problem.. Its watching for the morons that are in front of you on the merge ramp that you have to watch for.

Exactly. I've seen so many accidents where the dumb asshole in front, STOPS in a merge lane, and ends up getting rear ended. Sucks.

Sure you have! how about the squares-turned-sideways aka diamond shaped signs that are yellow and say various things such as DIP. I hope you didn't guess Stop or Yield! A stop sign is an octagon, and a yield sign is a triangle!

I scored 95% btw. #8 got me... I didn't know it was legal to pass if they're turning left..

I got a 90%.

#18 confuses me. Shouldn't you be 'prepared to stop' if a traffic light is yellow? Especially since 'stop if it's safe to do so' seems like if I don't think it's safe I can just blast right through the intersection.

I don't know if ur familiar with Frederick (since you said maryland is horrible im guessing you live in this state, haha).. but the on ramp to rt70 west behind the sheetz.. They have a stupid on ramp with NO merge area.. People have time to go and get on but they always decide to slam on their brakes and wait for 2 minutes before trying to merge again.. It sucks :banghead:

Oh that's what they meant by diamond-shaped?? Dammit, I would have gotten a 95%. I didn't know if it was something that wasn't in Massachusetts. We've got some weird stuff up here. Like a "rotary". As far as I know, other states don't have those. Not to mention, if you're in the left lane on a divided highway doing 85mph (highway speed limit is 65mph here), you WILL have someone on your ass waiting to pass you in this state.

I was kinda bummed to see New York only got second to last. I really think New York is worse than New Jersey. New Jersey doesn't have a nice "upstate" section to make it not look so bad.
