2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR

Someone made an offer on my MS3 that I couldn't refuse and Mitsubishi dealer gave me a deal on the EVO I couldn't pass up.
2.9%financing, Free 3yr Maintenance package, 5yrs Free Car washes, Free Window Tinting, and a few other things.

We looked all over the Southern part of the US for an Octane Blue or Tarmac Black one, they had all been sold or the dealer wasn't willing to trade, so I had to choose between Apex Silver and Rally Red. The Silver was too boring IMO.

Here are its numbers:
0-30 mph: 1.7 seconds
0-45 mph: 3.1 seconds
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds
0-75 mph: 7.2 seconds
Quarter-mile: 13.6 seconds at 101.3 mph

30-0 mph: 28 feet
60-0 mph: 112 feet

600-foot slalom: 70.7 mph
200-foot skid pad: 0.99g

Back to the Evo IX
If you're disappointed in those numbers, consider yourself hard to please. Either that or you're an Evo IX owner.

The last Evo IX we tested was way back in 2006. And it was a five-speed base model just like this Evo X. It even cost the same, about $35,000.

Here are its numbers:
0-30 mph: 1.8 seconds
0-45 mph: 3.3 seconds
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds
0-75 mph: 7.4 seconds
Quarter-mile: 13.3 seconds at 103 mph

30-0 mph: 28.6 feet
60-0 mph: 115.8 feet

600-foot slalom: 70.7 mph
200-foot skid pad: 0.93g

The keen will notice that the new car actually has the old one covered at the drag strip up to 75 mph. We're guessing this is due to the new car's wider, taller 18-inch tires and more sophisticated all-wheel-drive system. Above 75 mph, however, the excess weight of the X (our test car weighed 3,545 pounds) drags things down, and the car crosses the quarter-mile mark 0.3 second slower than the lighter 2006 model.

In the Evo tradition, launching the Evo X is tricky. Maintaining 5,200 rpm while feeding clutch and throttle worked the best, but after a couple of runs the clutch smelled like rotten eggs. Getting it wrong doesn't take much, and bogging the car off the line is always the result.
Very nice man! They are a bit heavey though but man, those are good numbers. Of course there will be mods out there to make it better. Pulls a G on the skid pad, sweet.

Thanks guys

This things handles incredibly well. I went out to the autocross today and people were disappointed that I couldn't run it yet.

John (or a mod) can you change the name of the thread so I don't have to create my own thread? lol

Nice ride man. You got a really good deal too.

With all wheel drive cornering should be almost a cinch at autocrossing right?

Enjoy it we have one set up for TT stuff that sets FTD or near it every event. Big Hooisers and a tune are all you need from what I understand

They're telling me I have to compete in AS or STU. I'm being nudged towards STU to give their class champion a challenge.

I'm going to do a Tune and some suspension work. This car has a lot of potential.

Mox real good choice. I like it better than the station wagon!!! You can go a long way on just a tune. This will be much more fun to autoX. Post up some vids of some runs in it!!

The Elise isn't daily drivable. So it's going to have to wait.

It could fit in STX(are they 2 liters still?). Why not BSP or SM? My growing problem with the ST classes is its becoming a technology race even that isnt fair its becoming a tire race, the R1Rs when new show up like 2 points higher on a durometer than an A6 how that is a street tire Ill never know. Plus the prevalence of douche bags in our local ST class makes it difficult to have fun I shall be un-douche bagging ST with my next neon but that is another story.

Tim Brownawell is the guy you want to get in touch with for this car(Ill PM you contact info) here is his at a couple TT days he doesnt record auto-x but just for reference I ran a 56.xxx today for a fast clean run and I was on it he ran a 47.9
