applause when landing?

What is up with that?

The last couple of flights I have been on several passengers start applauding the minute the plane lands.

I'm looking out the window thinking... "You are all applauding too early. We are still rolling along at a good clip here.. what if we don't slow down and roll right off the runway?"

In that case, will the passengers form a lynch mob and storm the cockpit? LOL

Planes take off and land everyday people... stop the applause and save it for something extraordinary.

lol- I've been on a few like that. those usually are when there's been bunches of turbulance though. I think it's kind of cool :D only if the pilot is doing some Han Solo manouveurs though :D

it's like when people clap at the end of movies - like the fucking director can hear you.

Does it hurt anyone to clap? You tip a waitress for doing less. The captain has your life in his hands.
Stop being so miserable

I'll start slipping a 20 dollar bill under the cockpit door upon disembarking from now on.

I've people clap on some of my flights.

The coolest thing is on Southwest. The other week I was flying to NH and there was an ARMY Soldier returning from Iraq. They got everyone to stay seated so that the soldier was the first to exit the plane.

They always seem to do things like that. Southwest FTW.

prop planes suck

Planes suck.... (Sorry Paul). I don't like flying because I always get sick and suffer from Migraines for 3 days after a flight...

Really the only kind of flying I like to do is 2" off the ground at triple digit speeds... :iroc:

Almost as annoying as people yelling at their tv screen when they are watching a game, movie, tv show.

Oh god, I hate that!

I guess I don't really care if people clap on planes. Every flight I've been on no one has clapped.

:bs2: this is justified. Red Wings had plenty of opportunities to score last night and they didn't. Yes, I'm a Wings fan, :thefinger:

The pilot can hear people clapping.

I clap every time I fly and land safely. I also make it a point to shake the pilot's hand as I exit the aircraft. It's the least I can do to show my appreciation for getting my ass safely to my desired destination in one piece. I've been flying all my life since my Papa lives in Germany. One of the best feelings in the world to me is landing after a long flight.

They clapped on my last flight too. I didn't know what that was about.

The one flight I did not clap on was when the airplane did a horrible landing that almost caused me to whiplash in my seat...that was insane

Pilots make money.... because.... they have your life in their hands and millions of dollars in equipment.
The analogy was to show appreciation, it wasn't monetary issue.

Read slower next time chief

So you think people don't appreciate pilots because they don't tip them? get real! I think people are well aware that their life is in the hands of the pilot when they are flying. A verbal 'thank you' or something of the like would suffice in a situation such as that. Just because a waitress doesn't have your life in their hands, piss one off and see what happens. Do you really want to make someone mad that has your food and the power to do whatever they wish with said food before giving it to you? Whatever, I guess I just don't see the relevance of your great analogy chief.

Your life is in the hands of the plane. The best pilot in the world isnt going to do shit if the wings fall off.

Ughhh Like I said, read slower.... like the second to last sentence of my statement:
This is an appreciation issue, not a MONETARY issue.

Yep, I'm handicapped. I have a problem E-thugging, you caught me. It seems like every topic you reply to you have something nasty to say. Act like you're 30, not 17. I'm done here, this is completely off topic. My apologies Paul56.

He wont, he's fucking scared.

I never had a flight with clapping at the end. Infact, most flights I was asleep until we landed.

Fucking pilots can't land planes softly to wake me up nicely. Fuck them, and fuck tha police.
