PSA: please read and comprehend

i try not to be a grammar nazi (mostly because i don't use proper capitalization), but this is one thing that makes reading some posts very difficult for me, and probably a lot of other people:
your: possessive pronoun describing who a certain thing belongs to. Example: your grammar sucks.
you're: a contraction of you and are. Example: You're still coming to carlisle, right?
these two words are not interchangeable. using the wrong one in a sentence makes a lot of people stop, and try to figure out why they can't comprehend what the hell you're (see what i did there?) saying. in my case, it makes me disregard your (and there?) entire post.
that is all. we now return to you're regularly scheduled threads.

oh... the other one that gets me
there: Use there when referring to a place, whether concrete ("over there by the building") or more abstract ("it must be difficult to live there").
their: Use their to indicate possession. It is a possessive adjective and indicates that a particular noun belongs to them.
They're: Remember that they're is a contraction of the words they and are. It can never be used as a modifier, only as a subject (who or what does the action) and verb (the action itself).

Let's face it...contractions confound most people. Hell, I'm happy as hell if proper pronunciation is used. Or any at all for that matter.
Of course this coming from someone who loves commas (maybe too much) and and uses...to create pronounced pauses.

i can't help it. when attempting to convey serious thought through a written medium, the less you confuse the reader, the better.
plus, some people honestly don't know the difference, due to either ESL or not paying attention through 10+ years of english class.

I think I have become immune to horrible grammar. I have been on this forum for nearly 5 years and I have been able to read a lot of crap. When I start complaining about the way people type, then there is a problem.
Sometimes it just makes my head hurt.

Thank you! I just don't understand how people can be so retarded sometimes. Totally agree on this one. Good grammar is everything.

Two additional pet peeves:
it's: 'it is' vs. its: 'a possession by it'
AND
then: a relationship based on time or sequence vs. than: a relationship based on comparison.
Let the grammar revolution begin!

I dont know if I am reading this right but I couldn't give a shit if someone cat read my posts or threads because of misplaced commas or mispelled words. It is a Neon forum not an English Literature forum. I will admit that I never graduated high school but I have a great paying job and I dont regret any choices I have made in my life. You should watch what you say because there are people from all over the world here. English is not many peoples first language. I have talked to Sokada many times and he has very good english. Why dont you check out an english grammar forum!!
