I am such an airhead…
With all the excitement of Carlisle and meeting all of you I failed to even notice that my Barney took 3rd place in the stock Neon Category
I want to give thanks to everyone that voted for my goofy little car! Maybe next year I’ll think to look more closely at my category!

Gratz hon! I know I voted for ya!
hul kogan wrote:Yupp, looks good Frank. The 2nd place Modified's username is on the tip of my tongue...dammit. Hate when that happens.
I know 2GN also did well in the actual Carlisle awards:
2GN - 2nd Place participation with 61 registered
SRT-4 Modified
1st - Nate (Passt)
2nd - Ronald Berry
3rd - Kurt Myers
SRT-4 Stock
1st - Summer Manford
2nd - Corey Mayes
3rd - Greg Gazdik
Neon R/T, ACR All (ex. SRT-4)
1st - Chris (BRR)
2nd - James (jrumann59)
3rd - Shawn Solderitch (unsure of username)
Neon All Stock
1st - Colin Spence
2nd - Robert Pontrelli
3rd - Janet (Pocahontas)
Neon All Modified
1st - Chris (hul kogan)
2nd - Carl Kiernan
3rd - Andrew (silversport)
Congrats to all the winners! If any of the other winners are listed and I missed you, just let me know. I didn't recognize any of the other names.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

We had 61 voters. Of course we're going to vote for our own.racer12306 wrote: I think it was a conspiracy
The problem is when legit cars get screwed over like the guy with the E-Blue SRT-4 that was parked next to Nate who didn't even place

Actually at Carlisle even clean cars that are over done can be a turn off to the other voters that also vote around us. While we had 61 voters all those classes we voted for on the ballot also had to vote for us also. For some reasn the other classes have a different view then us in the Neon community when it comes to modded cars. Some times clean and simple wins out over magazine worthy cars.PhillyLS1 wrote:We had 61 voters. Of course we're going to vote for our own.racer12306 wrote: I think it was a conspiracy

I think that's why I didn't even check my category... I didn't think I would place.
I'm glad I did though... never thought I would when I was waxing him by lantern light two nights before we headed out to Carlisle ^_^

Congrats, but I'm a bit confused. How can one "stock" car be judged as being better than another one? Sounds like more of a competition of which one had the favored color? I don't get the point of that...

Because it was a popularity contest. And yes he didn't place. Nate has nothing done under the hood, 0 done, not even a painted valve cover. conform's car is done tastefully, but he didn't know anyone at the show except me and a few others. Alas, he didn't place. Ironic huh? LOLMyNeonSaysHi wrote:PAsst's car is badass... but nonconforms car didn't even place!?!? WTF How was the judging done?

It really was! I love the unique but complementary color play, every accent in its place, and though I didn't know the details of everything under that hood I knew it was mighty sweet.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:Glad hul-Kogan got 1st place, never seen his ride before until now. Simply amazing.
Hopefully next year I won't have to wonder because I'm thinking of dropping and swapping, by Carlisle ^_^OB wrote:Congrats, but I'm a bit confused. Thanks! And that wasn't his fault, totally mine. I'm determined to make it up to him though!Mat00ES wrote:Well deserved, he was a fine leader to TMI, even with the slight misturn in the begining.

In all seriousness, it really is a travesty he didn't even come close to a tie with Nathan's car. A really big one.
At first, I thought "nothing done under the hood" referred to Nathan not having any work done mechanically, and I was going to scream bloody murder because that stage 4 and tuning was at least six months of his life
It was a tie between these two cars for me so I picked the one that looked like it had the most mechanical work done. Plus it helped that Nate's my boyfriend ("Thou shalt remain faithful to the provider of thine nookie").
Sure hope so! ^_^SOKADAO954 wrote:he so loves you for that....

I love George Carlin; he was freaking brilliant. When you mentioned it a few posts ago, I watched his entire "Complaints and Grievances" again, twice ^_^racer12306 wrote:"Thou shalt remain faithful to the provider of thine nookie"

I was a bit confused about him not even placing either. I feel like one reason behind that might be his car not being on the showfield for very long. It didn't seem to me like he was actually there very long during the judging hours. I know he left early due to the pending rain. I can't say for sure when he was in place for judging, though. When he had the EZ-Up over the front of his car it may have turned potential voters away, too. I dunno, just trying to think of possible factors.PhillyLS1 wrote:Because it was a popularity contest. Well that's all fine and good, but Nate essentially has a "bolt on kit." There is essentially no customization on his car. On the outside he has a hood, a homemade lip, aftermarket headlights and some rims.Pocahontas wrote:Now where's that baby crying picture... >.> ... At first, I thought "nothing done under the hood" referred to Nathan not having any work done mechanically, and I was going to scream bloody murder because that stage 4 and tuning was at least six months of his life. I didn't take into account that you were referring to engine aesthetics.
Spinnin's car was customized TASTEFULLY from top to bottom, to lnclude the interior, excterior, and engine bay. His rims are custom, his headlights are customized, etc etc etc.
Janet you placed with a purple automatic 4 door with chips and paint swirls everywhere.
Look at LSP's car. Now there are some things on her car I would never do, but it's different. And as long as she knows when to quit with the mods, she'll keep placing.
The other 2 guys that placed 2nd and 3rd were from the SRTForums. No independents placed. It's just the way things are.
You guys are both my friends, but c'mon LOL
BTW the way to solve that is to not let you vote in your own class CARLISLE!!!!! lol
