Whatever, it doesn’t matter where the Olympics are..

In all honestly.. we (as in America) need to worry about other things right now.....

I think the hope was to pump some money into the financial system.

Like Janet said, it was to pump a shit ton of money into the economy. They are talking about bringing an F1 race to the streets of Baltimore. I'm all for it, that race alone is predicted to bring in $100 million - $150 million. I'm all for that kind of influx.

If an F1 race can bring in $100 million, I'd bet an Olympic Games would bring in $750 million at a minimum.

Yeah!! And besides the best country in the world is gonna be hosting the 2010 winter olympics this year anyway...

And were gonna win our first olympic gold in history on our own soil. Mark my words..Canada is gonna kick some ass this year..

and OT...if the usa is worrying that they need to have the olympics in 2016 to "put money into the economy" then your country is in SERIOUS trouble...

Well it's not just about injecting some money into the country's economy per se, it's the specific location. Chicago and its regions depended on the auto industry. Since that has gone belly up, residents there have been hit pretty hard. Therefore, that region needs something as lucrative as the Olympics.

Yeah, it would be nice...

But we would be spending all that money until 2016.. Then we would be seeing some money come back.. but by that time, it might be too late...

I think you mean detroit. But chicago is just as much of a shit hole as detroit. I mean, look at our scumbag president. He's from chicago.

I know all the iron workers / construction guys around northern Indiana and Illinois were hoping for the Olympics to go to Chicago. They wanted the steady work for the next five years.

That's just something else Obama screwed up by showing up to the committee meeting and made Chicago go from favorite to fourth place.

It would have been nice to see the projects get taken out of the south side of Chicago...

RADARsx 2.0 wrote:Now I'm not from the USA but you can't blame everything on one man...why don't we blame it on Bush? He caused the recession in alot of peoples eyes...

Look at our country of Canada. At least when you get a leader you don't go through years of the people who lost saying they think the leader isn't good enough and cause a major and expensive election again and again..Think we've had 3 elections in just under 6 years or something like that.

Shit sucks when people don't get what they want. But at least the mayor of chicago is planning a 2020 summer olympic bid...We Canadians have tried every winter olympic since 88 and finally got the 2010..maybe the USA as a nation should band together and take politics and personal dislikes/hatered for people out of it and maybe then more olympics would come to your country.

Yes Canada ain't perfect. But when it comes to the olympics were one of the richest nations that give the least amount of money to our olymipians and when it's time to get or have the olympics ALL Canadians come together and support the people who are in it...cause that is what it's about. The olympics are not about politics or money or economy. It's about the spirit of competition and supporting someone in their attempts to be the very best they can be.

But this is just my opinion

Thanks for the comentary Tony Robbins, but down here there's a little more at stake politically.

RADARsx 2.0 wrote:How is your countries situation any worse than our countries? I am pretty sure that Canada has alot riding on what happens to and with the United States...we are your closest allie...You seem to think your country is any better or worse off than ours? Come on now...that is a little ignorant to say and a little self centered aswell.

I was just trying to say that people are taking the loss and turninig it on one person..Personally (this is my opinion) what you said here "but down here there is more at statke politically" is one of the big reasons why you's didn't get the olympics and why there is so much problems "politically" as you say and to be quit honest socially as well..but whatever..I'm just a dumb Canadian that don't live in the USA and doesn't understand right?

But I do want to say Best of luck to those who do want the olympics in 2020 and I truely hope it happens.
You wanna talk about ignorant and self centered while you're sitting up there sharp shooting?
And Canada is not our closest ally. Canada plays it safe with everything. I'm shocked you guys are even in afghanistan. Your country is the sweden of the 5 allies. Austailia, the UK, New Zealand are far ahead of Canada as far as American foreign policy support.

But hey, you guys up in Canada have it all figured out politically. Nothing but smooth sailing and unity up there, especially Quebec

You remember in DC when they had the Grand Prix races? That shit was insane.

The stopped because residents complained about how high the noise level of the cars were. :(

I've only lived in MD for 11 years. Was never interested in anything other than drag racing until the last few years.

And how abouts the political junk stops now.
