i <3 my suspension

Post by glasswars » Mon Oct 19, 2009 3:37 pm

Oh man I feel so alive right now.

So I was on the way to class today, 5th gear, going 45 mph.

2 lane road going both ways.

SO, someone going the opposite way was waiting to make a left, but couldn't because I was coming. But I guess they had decided to say fuck it and go for it. At this point I was extremely close, I barely remember so I can't guesstimate, but I was close. This person then realizes that there is no way they are going to make the turn in time so they decide it would be better if they STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD blocking both my lanes!

Hard brake, down shift, down shift, down shift, I make a sharp right (which is the left he was waiting to make) as my only escape. Lemme tell you, I've pushed this car through the turns before, but never this hard. I was soo happy with how the car peformed. The car stuck it real hard (lol) and went solid through the turn. ZERO understeer. The rear kicked out a little bit but by that time I was coming to a stop. I throw the ebake on, and jump out of my car. I proceed to yell.

Extremely loud.

It was something along the lines of "You're a fucking idiot, piece of shit car, watch what your doing, you're a fucking idiot (x10), you're lucky I could pull that turn off, I hope you die, etc."

It was some old guy. But that didn't stop me. Oh no. My rage grew.

By this point there were about like 4 other cars behind him all just staring. His only reply was "You too." Which made me lol. But only in my mind. I did not actually vocalize my laughter for his reply.

I proceed to get in my car and did a nice lil' burn out. (Nothing compared to Nate at Carlisle though  ) He then pulled into McDonalds. FUCKING MCDONALDS! Jesus christ. I pull into the next lot to turn around so I can get back on my way. Everyone that was behind him waved to me hahaha.

Moral of the story:
Mod your car. If it wasn't for my suspension, I woulda smacked right into him, or the curb when I turned to avoid him. Understeer FTL. And old people should have to take a drivers test when they get their license renewed.

^This. I have seen some pretty big, epic fails by old people. Hell, my grandfather who was almost completely paralysed from the WAIST DOWN was able to get his license renewed no problem. :facepalm3:

Good work on your part, Anthony. I usually just avoid the crash and go on my way all pissed. I barely ever confront the person. Teach that old fogie a lesson.

I don't even think he'll remember it. He seriously must have been in his own world. My car for sure would have been totaled.

If he does remember it though, maybe I'll haunt his dreams LMAO.

Everyone should have to pass tests to renew their license.

He probably didn't know what to do with an emo boy that looked like he was all hopped up on PCP.

Damn, good thing nothing happened to your car. I had a similar story (as far as the other driver being like "oh, can't make this turn... I'll just sit here...").

Jeez, I hate hearing stories where the reason it happened is because of some old fart. They really shouldn't be allowed to drive at all.

On the other hand, I'm glad you and your car are OK. It would've really sucked if it was totalled.

Damn dude. BC/Meganss for teh win. I've avoided 2 really bad situations with them so far. Glad to hear things are okay. I wish people would learn from situations like this. That's what makes me the most mad, that they won't.

1 wheel burnouts for the lose! Watch out for your differential pin man!

45 in 5th is the recommended mph to shift into 5th gear for optimal fuel economy when cruising. According to the SRT manual that is.

Glad you could avoid him.

I'll be blind or dead before I ever get that old...I'm not sure how old the guy who was who did this to the original poster but the guy who hit me was 82 and didn't have a license for 2 years.

I know the police have better things to do, but sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be beneficial to give tickets for crap like that. You can tickets for doing a lot less dangerous things than that.

EDIT: And there should be something for you in that too, like negative points or insurance discounts or something.

As for 45 in 5th, my 9-5 throws the shift light at 35 if I'm on the level in 4th.
