i hear what you guys are saying on putting my stock intake box back on..but if i do that then he is gonna ask how did water get into it..because you guys know that the box is fully sealed and the filter sits inside the box ontop of the engine. im just gonna go in tomorrow and tell him what happened and see if he can do anything..if not then screw it.the car is gonna sit till like summer.

thanks gramps on the links..

your the second one to send me some links.lol.

im gonna go check out this one car place i remember seeing a few good neons a while back and see if he has them still. ill let you guys know what i find.

ummm look what i found on ebay...

can someone with a carfax thing look this up for me.. he says it has a salvaged title and all that was done was a rear bumper replacement. so i wanna know what all was done to it.

yeah i know.

thats why i wanted someone to check the carfax to see if it says anything else.

edited at 4.53pm today.

i messaged the guy and heres what i said.

i was wondering if you could provide me with detailed information on why this car has a salvaged title ? or just a carfax history report.? i know for a fact what a car needs to be in order to be considered salvaged. i know all about neons and im sure i can fix the problem u are experiencing with it. and i might also be more interested if you could answer my first question. if you would like me to call you at the number listed on the listing let me know. i live far away but am willing to drive all the way there to pick it up if the this is a true sale that $5k price.

Depending on how high the water was the car isn't waterproof with stock airbox. Also depends on how long you were in it.

^Very true. when I got hydrolocked and it went over my hood, there were about 4 other stock cars that got it at the same intersection.

fill the airbox up with water lol.

Hey. If you can. Take pictures of your engine if here is any water residue, If there is any possible way to get pictures of the water you drove through then do it. I have GEICO and they were a complete pain in my ass and dragged my claim on forever. I ended up getting in a verbal argument with my adjuster face to face. You can try these things..

1) Pull the oil pan and look for awkward mixture
2) Let the filter sit a little bit and see if rust comes up to prove it
3) You could put the stock air box in and put a slight amount of water in it yourself to be like "oh look heres some excess water"

I regret not taking pictures or a video when I hydrolocked my ACR on the way back from Carlisle. I was in shock and did not think straight. I ended up putting a new motor, new timing belt, and new water pump in. It runs good now but I'm still slightly unsatisfied. Write down the dates of all occurrences with your insurance and don't be afraid to stick up for yourself. A wise man once told me "the squeeky wheel gets the grease". Hopefully you will have better luck than me. I just got annoyed and impatient and said the hell with it. I probably should have threatened them legally because its always cheaper for a company to keep a customer than to try to gain a new one.

I hydrolocked and got codes. Did u get any codes? The next day when I tried to drive I sent a rod right through the engine block.

yeah i know you had it bad with your insurance.. but actually i already drained the oil and it was milky looking..like if someone stuff a milkway in there and it milted.lol. and i dont have my intake on there on the account that i was trying to get the water out of the manifold.. but i think im already having better luck than you. my insurance guy earlier said ok give me the details and the street so i did and he said ok we are going to file the claim and someone should be calling you to come look at the car.. now idk what they are gonna look at.. but if they ask where my air box is ill just pull it outta the shed..cause thats where my stock one is.. so i guess now all i gotta do is sit and wait for the claim people to call and make an appointment to come see my car.

im going to leave the oil pan unbolted and show him the little bit of oil i got left and idk if ill tell him i found a snapped rod or not but ill just see what all they gonna check when they come by.

Milky looking oil means it is contaminated with water. Make sure that oil stays in there! lol. Save the other quarts of oil if you still have it too...

keep the car exactly as it was when it drove in. (accept the CAI, ide switch that out), and have the claim adjuster look at it. keep the old oil in it.

oh well the car is sitting at a shop rite now. i didnt take it to one of the insurance preffered shops but my own shop i found in town. im waiting on him to write down my price quote. and he said everything else looks good. he took off the broken rod to see if it would start good and everything and it did. so we are probably just looking at replacing one rod and maybe piston. and im sure all i gotta do is turn that quote into claims and ill get my money and then pay the guy at the shop. im gonna tell him to start working on it tomorrow and ill deffinately have the money when he gets done. should be a week or less. but yeah thats about it. they are gonna write it down as " water Damage " so its all good. ill be taken care of. my insurance guy is nice.
