Ok guys and gals, I have this speech class and I need some help. I have a few questions to ask and I just want to get some of your opinions. It about buying "American" Cars vs. Buying "Foreign" Cars.

If you guys could give just short brief answers to the questions that would be great. Then after you answered them you can tell me what ever you like. Your thoughts, opinions, stories, experiences, etc.

#1: If you had the cash right now, what NEW car/truck would you buy?

#2: Whats the first word you think of when you hear "American Cars"?

#3: Would you buy an "American car" even if it was built in a different country?

#4: Do you believe that buying a "foreign" car is unpatriotic?

#5: What is most important to you? (safety, value, quality, practicality, or country of origin?)

#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?

1. If I had to purchase a daily driver car it would be a Ford Fusion. If I were to buy a toy car it would probably be a Camaro SS. (I only say both due to having a company car)

2. Chevrolet

3. Yes, if the car suited what I was looking for.

4. No

5. practicality, quality, safety, value, country of origin (in that order)

6. Possibly. It would depend on what that money is used for. If it was saved then it probably wouldn't have any benefit towards the economy. If the money was intelligently spent then it would probably have a bigger impact on the economy.

#1: Evo X, STI, Lotus Elise.

#2: Boring

#3: Yes, if the performance, quality, and overall package was there.

#4: of course not.

#5: Performance. A Well balanced car that can handle and has enough power to pull through the corners, but still has some creature comforts and style.

#6: I'll never buy a used car again.

1. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8

2. Mopar

3. If it was the car I wanted, then yes I would.

4. No, since the majority of parts for american cars are not made in america.

5. Quality followed by practicality then safety, value and country of origin

6. I really never looked at it that way, but I don't think it's stimulating the economy as much as buying from a company is.

1. Dodge Challenger

2. Mopar

3. As long as they assemble it in america.. but profits have to go to american HQ and not import HQ's overseas..

4. If you buy an import.. and put an american flag on it.. I think so (just my opinion)

5. country of origin

6. Its still exchanging money with an american, so its kinda stimulating it.. i guess?

#1: If you had the cash right now, what NEW car/truck would you buy?

Ram 2500 diesel

#2: Whats the first word you think of when you hear "American Cars"?

Dodge

Sure, we had an Intrepid, it was built in Canada

#4: Do you believe that buying a "foreign" car is unpatriotic?

Nope

Value, followed by quality

#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?

Sort of. The person I'm buying the car from is living in the US. Regardless if the money is saved or spent, it's going to be in this economy. If it's saved in a savings account, the bank will be able to use it for their trading, and the person can accrue interest.

#1: If you had the cash right now, what NEW car/truck would you buy?
If we're talking lots of money - Dodge Viper.

#2: Whats the first word you think of when you hear "American Cars"?

America...yup, simple as that.

#3: Would you buy an "American car" even if it was built in a different country?

Don't we do that already?

#4: Do you believe that buying a "foreign" car is unpatriotic?

Not really. Although I find people that purposefully bash American cars to be very annoying

#5: What is most important to you? (safety, value, quality, practicality, or country of origin?)
Quality, I guess.

#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?
Depends how you want to look at it. In theory, the money used to buy that used car is split very differently than it would if it were to go to a new car, but both can be beneficial in their own ways.

#1: If you had the cash right now, what NEW car/truck would you buy?

I would buy a brand new Ariel Atom.

#2: Whats the first word you think of when you hear "American Cars"?

When I hear "American Cars" the first thing that comes to mind are Cadillacs and big-ass trucks.

#3: Would you buy an "American car" even if it was built in a different country?

I don't know. It is no longer American if it's not made here. The only thing you'll be paying for is the American brand name.

#4: Do you believe that buying a "foreign" car is unpatriotic?

Not necessarily. Many foreign manufacturers have opened up factories in the Southeast United States and they created jobs. Plus these "foreign cars" are American made.

#5: What is most important to you? (safety, value, quality, practicality, or country of origin?)

I could care less where the car comes from as long as they have quality and safety to show.

#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?

It depends. If the car is complete crap and collectible, you'll be paying for parts and labor to get the car fixed up. If the car is just a ho-hum cookie-cutter shoe box without problems, then no.

#1: If you had the cash right now, what NEW car/truck would you buy?
Dodge Nitro
#2: Whats the first word you think of when you hear "American Cars"?
Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford... the big 3 basically
#3: Would you buy an "American car" even if it was built in a different country?
Probably. I do buy "American shoes" made in a foreign country, after all.
#4: Do you believe that buying a "foreign" car is unpatriotic?
Nope. You may not be supporting American workers per se, but you're helping the salesmen who sell the cars...
#5: What is most important to you? (safety, value, quality, practicality, or country of origin?)
Value, practicality, quality
#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?

Yes. The person you're buying that car from will then (hopefully) use that money at the store or to pay credit cards, etc which then helps those businesses pay their bills and in a trickle-up effect, the banks *should* have more money to loan out, helping others...

-Performance, features, quality

#6: Do you think buying a used car, (from a private seller) regardless of make, is more beneficial to the U.S. Economy then buying a new "American Car"?
