local cable company

I'm mildly peeved with them...
Mom has been talking about upgrading her TV service for years and so with my help she decided to take the plunge this year.
We go into the office this morning and make our selections. They tell us we will get a call from the installer today or Monday.
Get a call later from the cable company telling me they need to put the order on hold because they don't have enough HD decoders on hand. They have ordered more but don't know when they will come in.
The same cable company is also taking out full page ads in the local papers and on TV advertising a special they have going now and it would seem they inadequately forecasted the number of people who would sign up.
Was kinda hoping for the hookup before Christmas to enjoy during the holidays. I'm certain there are others who will be disappointed with this... and who might head straight to their competition.
I also find it strange they did not know this information when we were at the office... almost strikes me they wanted the order signed before being honest about their inventory levels.
