I usually let a whole bunch of spelling issues pass me by on this forum, as I am not perfect. But this is one that seriously irritates me everytime I see it. The lack of "to be".

Needs lowered.
Needs painted.
Needs tints (wtf are tints anyways? It's TINT)
Needs rebuilt.
Needs cleaned.

Doesn't anyone realize how stupid that sounds? The phrases should read: "Your car needs to be lowered".

Another one that chaps my ass: Patients are NOT the same as Patience.

The youth of America are severely retarded. I too get severely irritated by spelling issues, but I'm coming to realize that the only way you will correct the majority of these issues is to manually override each and every post on these boards. Unfortunately that will not help anybody, as the poor spellers will still spell poorly.

All in all, I just have three words here... you need relax!

I added those and Their and They're.

I think that texting is beginning to affect grammar. Posting on a website, for me anyway, is the same as writing a personal letter to someone; therefore, I always try to check my spelling and grammar. But this is just one of my pet peeves , not ranking as high in the "big picture" for others.

When I text people I actually formulate whole sentences...I can't abbreviate things outside of "lol" it bothers me.

i usually never even proof read my posts... due to lack of time at work/home

OK, all better. As a side note, something that has helped me a bit as of late is the lack of spellcheck at work. I am a horrible speller, but because of my OCD when it comes to writting, it has helped me a lot in making sure that I am spelling things correctly. While I will still misspell things (like misspell ) at least I know my grammar is correct

It really depends on the time of day for me. when I post at night, I'm usually tired and don't catch my mistakes. When I'm texting I cut it short, and some times my hands can't keep up with my brain.

just kidding. I know what you mean about the spelling thing. It bothers me too sometimes when people don't use the correct spelling. But i guess we just have to deal with it as it is.

I hope you were kidding. However, I'm assuming you weren't so I'll proceed. Yes, it is a free site, etc... does that mean you can be retarded and not worry about spelling things correctly? How do you expect people to read what you type if you don't spell or use any grammar? As for my post, I was completely kidding. Go read through some of my posts. Some have some typos, from mis-hitting keys, but they are all punctuated, capitalized, etc... I enjoy reading proper english, so I type that way. I made the shortest post I could, butchering everything I could in the process. Deliberately.

Teej, I smell ya man. People can post however they'd like, and everyone else will "dil" with it to get by. In that same sense, people can freely type that they are annoyed by it and offer corrections. It's a never ending battle

Can't say I've ever used the word "sexors". I admitted I am not perfect, I am guilty of using stupid words on PURPOSE to make a JOKE however, everyone on this forum is. That isn't what I am referring to. But as far as being a reflection of modern society, that is exactly my point.

Making a spelling error or a joke (hatter) is one thing, but having a blatant disregard for the definition of a basic word that you should have learned and retained in second grade, and using it improperly repeatedly, is another. That....is my point and it isn't making "fun" of someone....but making a factual statement and point about something I have observed.

well i look at this topic one way.... not everyone is perfect, or brilliant, people make mistakes and EVERYONE messes up. i honestly dont see the reason to make a post about it.... but if it bothers me that much i guess it would post something to, i dont know.... i have read alot of forums and i have seen ALOT worse than people on here....

What started out as something amusing to point out the rather common mistakes everyone makes....has turned into an all out panties in a bunch fest.
