I was sad to hear about this yesterday. The more reports I hear, the worse the devastation sounds.

The wife and I were just in Haiti less than a month ago and only 75 miles from Port-au-Prince where the 'quake originated. Contrary to what many people believe, Haiti is really a beautiful country with gorgeous blue waters, stunning reefs, and a breathtaking mountain landscape. I highly recommend that you all visit at some point in your life.

It is a tragedy, and part of life on earth, and prolly any planet similar. At least it is at the hands of Mother Nature, and not some wacked out fanatic.
Not that that is any comfort to those affected.
All we can hope for is the nations that have the resources to help, do so. It isn't that we can do anything to prevent it, it's what we (as a global community) do about it.

When I heard about it I couldn't believe it. I never had any prior knowledge about haiti being on a big fault line. All we can really do is send out prayers and Obama has initiated a relief to help what survivors there are.

Agreed.
I was surprised by this, too.
After looking up local earthquake history, I then found that there was a similar large quake that occurred there in the 1770's.

Sorry to hear about this. It sucks.
Maybe it's the beginning of 2012?

Meh, don't buy into that...it's just Mother Nature. Sometimes she is angry.
Off-topic: Love the new sig! Car looks great.

Dear Haitians -
First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.
As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it's possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?
Sincerely,
The Rest of the World
this was written Paul Shirley, and i agree 100% it may not be nice but its true, it was said that Haiti was a money pit before the e-quake and now there are millions of $ going to rebuild it. ????

We elect Paul Shirley, and you do go there and help them get it right this time.

i COMPLETELY disagree with everything the USA is doing to help haiti.... call me an ass or whatever... but where were the haitians during 9-11?? for that fact alone, let there own country deal with it... our country is not in ANY shape to be spending millions of dollars on other countrys...
well the USA can just print more money??? yeah why dont we try to get the american dollar to be worth less than a paseo right?
yes i do feel bad for the country of haiti, it is a tragity but it happens to every country (tragity that is)
