well this figures, but i am on my way to work today, and my DD 93 spirit overheats like a sob.... so i am stuck on the side of the road for about 30 min in -3 degree weather, and a windchill that was rediculus.... i get out of the car and i am low on coolant AGAIN! i just checked it yesterday and had to add to it... so i have not noticed that any coolant is leaking... so i am thinking it is a headgasket.... go fucking figure... and this after i just put 300 dollars in tires for my BBS wheels.... so i am looking at getting a new car, my dealership has an intrepid for about 7500 it is an 04 with 22k, ugh... but i am not sure if i want that kinda payment again...
FML!
sorry i just needed to vent...

lol with -3 degrees you would think overheating would be kinda hard to do. Anyways I wouldnt jump to conclusions and say its a head gasket track down the problem maybe its not that bad. And i feel you on getting a new car payment, I am 2 months away from paying mine off and I keep telling myself never again lol

yeah i know, i figured overheating is the last thing would happen... i just pulled the oil cap really fast off it, and it is pritty milky... but being this cold i can not see if it is buring the coolant or not...

Depending on what you are looking for I'm sure there is a 1GN available somewhere for less than $1500.

dude changing the headgasket on a 2.5 is a simple procedure and can be done in less than 30 minutes. Use the "slide and slide" method which tons of people do without any problem. All you have to do is lift the head far enough to get the gasket in, and drop it back down. There was a guy on TurboDodge that said he did one in like 15 minutes one time before he went to go meet a girl for a date!

^^^ i dont think i would want to change a headgasket with out cleaning the mating surfaces, of atleast checking them,
aren't those heads terrible for cracking, i know i changed two of them at school on semester.
sorry to hear this, i had a 1999 neon R/T 185,000km on it for 1500 bucks, i got a pending sale on it yesterday, if that falls through or if your interested PM me.

Trust me, it's sketchy but it's proven. The TD guys do it all the time when they need to without serious issues. Were talking about a DD here, not a race car
Yeah, I hear ya. It sucks having to put money you don't have into your DD when you need it for your money pit. Sometimes I miss my Spirit that was a clone of yours (but in better shape)

This.
The head is almost gauanteed cracked between the valves. A 2.0 SOHC head will take care of that issue.

The 2.7 is worse. Trust me on this one. If the LH is a 2.7, run away. Fast.
Oh, and cracking between the valves is a fact of life on the 2.2/2.5s. It doesn't affect anything though. I have yet to see one that leaks because of it.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I know the 2.7's in the sebrings had sludge problems.
You really need to be religious doing oil changes on the 2.7 engine.

I have a saturn that runs good for next to nothing... I have to run out to my sister's place to pick up a *gasp* ford from her, and you can have it for the cost of a set of fuel injectors for my drag car.

Oh damn, I was thinking an old intrepid which I didn't think had the 2.7. He's right though, 2.7s are TERRIBLE. Ticking time bomb. My dad's dealer literally has like a dozen in their shop with blown motors that the customers never came to pick up after they found out the motor was blown up.
