Well, Picked up a goober mobile...i mean van today. It's a 99 Town & Country. beige. It has 200k on it. motor and trans is solid. and it has every extra/bell and whistle other than the sunroof option. I got it for a steal. picked it up for $800 and all it needed for a safety is 2 new stabalizer link bushings and 4 new tires. the bushing cost $19.38 and I installed them myself and my boss' gf had a grand caravan that's motor was blown and I got the tires off her for free. so the van cost me a grand total of $962.85 to buy, safety and get on the road. I hate it but at least it's still a chrysler product and it look good beside my neon lol

Had my first day off in weeks yesterday and woke up with a killer cold. :banghead: I have to work today before heading to Detroit tomorrow so calling in sick would look very suspicious. Gotta love it- the first time I've been sick in years and what glorious timing.

EDIT to correct spelling error.

^^Thanks man. Less than three hours until I start the drive north.

Glad that you got a Mopar product but, yeah, it would have been nice to get something other than a magic wagon!

Thinking of trading in the Neon...

Think I should get an Aston Martin V12 Vantage or just settle for a Porsche 911?

Based on your credit, height, weight, driving skills, few pictures I've seen of you, and your habits you openly speak about . . .

I say just take a few more parts of the Neon, but keep driving it. Shell, with 2 front doors, no carpet, random set of 17s, ever-changing ride height . . . yeah, you're good.

F*CK Exhaust Depot UHP! Fits like a piece of crap! Clearly the b*tch doesn't even line up without couplers. No it's not my intercooler either, the pipe is piece.

Went to use the fob to open the trunk yesterday and it wouldn't work. Had the day off today so I tried to start the car and found that the battery is dead. :whymewhyme: I had been running the car for about 15 minutes once a week while it has been hibernating but Frank was worried that I wasn't warming it up enough before shutting it off. He had recommened a trickle charger instead so I guess this is what I get for not taking his advice. Anyway, either my extended warranty or auto insurance policy should cover having someone come out to jump start the car but I'm not sure if the dealership can slap a fee on me for recharging it (it's a Mopar replacement battery- the one that came with the car died a few years back).

Sorry to hear Gramps. yeah from my experience's and what i've learned you should be running the car for at least half hour to hour 1 day a week to keep everything lubed, running and charged. or the best thing to do it just dis connect the positive lead on the battery and that will save it between runnings and it should stay charged and fine....that's what i do with my atv, dirt bike and next week neon. (yeah she's getting parked indefinately)

I'd be very surprised if a half hour of idling really got a car up to proper operating temperature, as in proper oil temp, trans temp and coolant temp.

There is no need to start a car in storage if it was stored properly. A battery maintainer, like BatteryTender, or completely disconnecting the battery is the way to go.

Frank's right. What I didn't tell in my post is that I had the car alarm on and this drained the battery. When the car was in storage last winter, starting it every now and then kept the battery juiced up enough. My bad this year. :banghead:

My car has certainly received it's share of pop starts.

Thankfully my driveway has enough of a slope to it.

It's a good thing the service manual warning isn't as bad as it make it out to be. There is a warning in there about using the trans to start the car. I have never had an issue with doing it either. I guess using some common sense helps tho.

David, you should get a trickle charger/maintainer, and recharge it that way. It will be better for the battery. You are looking at about $30 to $40 for one of those. I think I paid around $25 for a tender 10 years ago from sears. FWIW, it is still working.

I also Had a bad there David. I miss understood "storage" to it's in your garage or a portable car port and it wasn't truly stored, just kinda parked for the winter. But if your not gonna use it at all. I'd just remove the batt, fuel stabalizer, and all that stuff and leave her for the winter. thats what is getting done to mine for the next 4-6mths.

Again....Frank is right and is "the man" :)

I guess that "storage" wasn't the correct term- the car is just parked in my garage until there is no fear of salty roads. I'm waiting for late March or early April to to call Chrysler about sending someone out to jump start the car (I'm still under the extended warranty  ) and then take it to the dealership to have the battery completely recharged. Guess that I can schedule the installation of new tie rods at the same time. One more step towards Carlisle! :bounce:

You can remove the battery now and take it to AutoZone. They'll charge it and test it for free.

Even if you just take the battery to the dealer, since it is under warranty, they should take care of it. If they need the whole car, I would just do AZ.

Leaving the battery in a discharged state for an extended period of time will do it no favors.

You guys are gonna kill me- I don't even have any tools to remove it with anyway. :tardbang: Since it is a relatively new Mopar battery, I would prefer the selling dealership to charge it up for me. Bottom line, I was pretty stupid not to have a trickle charger. Let's move on.
