Working and wishing it was 5pm so I could go home. Drove the neon today since it was too slick to risk the caliber.

I wouldn’t say I’ve still been into them but I do still have my neon. Haven’t drove it regularly in a few years. This spring that will change and the truck will be stored away.

Nothing much has changed other than a job change

Working at the same place I started at 31 years ago...

Steering rack line rusted out on the '99, making a nice smoke cloud roll out from under the hood every time you turn left. Debating on fixing it somehow, or going to a 14:1 Shadow rack. Unfortunately 2gn lines don't work. I tried the ones from the Dark Jewel, but they are too different to make work. Finding 1gn lines in any better shape is about impossible.

Mopar never sold parts for the racks, so that option is out. Of course it isn't a regular tube/nut set up, so making new lines would require another tool, that I would probably only use once.

Bill, if you can find a pic and send it to me I'll ask a small group of elitists if they can make one. It'll safe you a few bucks if they can.

I'm about to have my 98 RT again. My step daughter never registered it. It's valve seals are really going and it was burning about half a quart of oil a week with my commute to work. I'm considering SOHC swapping it since I have a good head laying around and all the bolt ons. =P~

Unfortunately, the lines were destroyed in the process of removing them.

Cool. It's been the same for me pretty much. Moved to another state and, started a new job. Driving the SRT everyday. S
Does just fine in the snow and sub-zero temps so, I can't complain lol

Currently...

Installed my oil pressure sender into the tee and block and whatnot with the stock sensor. Didn't make it tight enough, apparently so, I've just tightened that up and no more leaks! Yay!

Also, fixing a broken fog wire and hood switch for my alarm. Fun fun fun!

I'm having a hard time thinking of where those lines are.

Not 100% sure that's a 1gn rack tho. I PM'ed Vitor a while back to see if he had any left from racks he's taken apart, he said he would check, but never got back to me.

V just commented and said he probably has "a set or three" just now. I'll keep you updated.

For now though, go without the PS belt and enjoy that extra 6HP!

He PM'ed me.

I would go w/o a PS belt, but the cylinders would be wide open to the elements without any tubes on there. Being it is a road salt/cinder fest out there, I won't be driving it anytime soon anyways.

Neon has been a trooper lately and I'm pretty sure this is the coldest weather I've put it though. Not bad for 206k miles.

The white car is starting to run a little rough and is going to need some extra TLC this year. For once the IAC is going out and is idling all over the place. I suspect it's the wiring so I'll just have to buy new pigtails and solder them on.

I'm also hearing a knock coming from what I suspect is the bottom-end when it's around 2,000 RPMs. I'm suspecting it's rod knock or a bad bearing.

Trying to get the black car up and running now so I have something to drive while the white car goes under the wrench at some point to figure out what's wrong and fix.

This Christmas was the year of car parts. Husband got me two new motor mounts and the rear strut cushions (not technical term I'm sure) so that my annoying rattles dissappear. Now to get the time to put them on...

Anyone else end up with new car toys?

No car toys for me... except a new torque wrench. Though I did get money to get new tires for the black car and have my original SSRs repaired (one was damaged years ago from a pothole)... so I'll be ordering tires soon.

White car just got a IAC rewire kit and plugs. haha

No car parts for Christmas so, I'm still working on my list lol.

I'm still trying to decide on a set of wheels. Proving to be a little difficult as I am extremely picky lol.

Strut mounts...

No new toys for the neon. Got a new Kenwood DDX794 HU for the Subie. I added the i-Datalink Maestro RR to it. Kind of nice being able to see engine, tire, and body info right on the screen. It's funny that the Subaru tire sensors are not listed as position specific, but the Maestro shows the tire pressure for each position, and it is correct. So obviously the tire monitor reprograms to the new location, but Subaru didn't feel the need to make that info available to the driver, at least on 2010 models. Of course that adds cost.

The Maestro would probably be mostly wasted on a neon, other than the engine gauges. There are cheaper methods for that.

Christmas was uneventful, car-wise. 2017 was a VERY expensive year with the new house. I did get a personal weather station though! I can't wait to get it mounted up and streaming to Weather Underground.

With the start of 2018 comes a desperately-needed reset to my available vacation time at work. Now I can take some time to get my transmissions welded and get this Daytona back to being movable. Depressing as hell to see that car laid up with no time to fix it.

I've gathered about $300 towards the $1700 I need for a new set of tires and wheels for mine. I have a bonus coming in the spring that will fill in whatever I need by that point. My tires are dry rotted and cracked from the previous owner hardly moving the thing. I don't want to waste money on tires for a six-inch wheel, so I'm going with a 17x8. I was originally going to do a 16x7, but I have more tire options and a wider contact patch with the 17x8s. It's only about a $200 increase, and the wheels are still lighter than the stockers, so what the hell.
