So I'm toying with the idea of selling the neon and picking up a local guys car. He has an 88 Conquest Tsi with some mods that puts the car around 300+ horses. 145k on the car and 14k on the engine. I'm at the point where I decide if I should keep modding the neon, which include some big price tags (first coilovers then SRT swap) so I'm at a fork at the road to continue or to buy something already finished. Apparently the car doesn't need anything, but I don't know about a RWD car in a Buffalo winter. Opinions???

The Conquest is a cool car but has its fair share of problems...

Plus it's OLD... seriously, old cars nickel and dime you once they get to a certain point.

I'd stay away unless you're very mechanically inclined.

It would not happened to be owned by CokeDoctor would it?
My cousin keeps telling me to get a Conquest and I considered it at one time especially if I did an engine swap to it.....

RWD in the winter isn't really an issue as long as you use your head.

How come people come here asking to be talked into or out of something? A poll for your car is one thing, but getting a new car is something that you need to decide for yourself. A fun toy that's more powerful and possibly have more potential? Yes, do it. Practicality and inexpensive? No sir.

for one just by seeing that it has some mids already and most likely has a stock motor =NO those heads are very poorlky designed. if you want to pick it up you better keep your car and make this a project. first thing that should be down to that car is a complete rebuild with a 4g63 or 64 head but if you do go that route. before you buy a single after market part read read read read forums and everything else you can its one of those motors that responds to every mod way differently . so make sure you get all the info you can on that kind of car before you make a pruchase. and that goes for any car, make sure you know what ur in for before you dive in.
