Are there any Apps to keep programs from running? My calendar and other shit I dont use are always running. If I use taskiller they go away but still come back shortly.

Because I'm not using them, nor will I ever use some of them, and they are taking memory and some cpu away, thus shortening battery life. I mean it's not a big deal, but I'd like to be able to get rid of them.

But they take battery life because as some of them are running in the background they are using data constantly checking your location and stuff. So it's almost like being on the internet 24/7.. Trust me, when I use Taskkiller to get rid of all the things that just start up by them self the ram jumps by like 30mb..TheRandom1 wrote:If they're running in the background, I'm sure they don't take up much battery life or processor speed.
Like I said it's not a huge deal. But if there is a simple app that would easily let me get rid of them, why not..

Yes, I do know that they use some processor speed and what not, I am not retarded...
however, obviously they don't take up enough to make it a big deal, otherwise they wouldn't run in the background, and it would be very easy to shut them off.

There really is no arguing with you is there.
I'm picky. I like to be able to control them. I want to shut them off to make myself happy and extend my battery life by 30 minutes. But I don't think they make an app to do so. So oh well.
And I recommend restarting the phone nightly to clear up the cache and ram. Just a suggestion. After a whole day I'm sitting at 78mb free. After restart I have 114 for the first half of the day.

You can absolutely argue with me, but if it's over something stupid, you will probably lose because I'm a sensible person...
That said, while talking to Josh about what he uses on his Droid, he mentioned Advanced Task Killer for killing apps. Have you tried this program?

Settings>applications>manage applications
This will allow you to see all apps running and kill them. I dont see the use of task killer.
Also if you like having the weather handy the weatherbug app is best.
As far as the PDAnet it works well and fast enough to stream YouTube but its not really necessary you can do everything on your phone that you would need to do on a laptop

I use advanced task killer yes. The task killer is much easier then going through each app manually and closing them. Only takes a second.
Even when you end some tasks, they come back up within an hour. Not all but some.
As for the weather I use the stock weather widget that comes with the phone.
And to you being a sensible person.. Opinions my friend, only personal opinion.

I never said they were only issues with the droid. I just said I want to get rid of them. Space isn't the issue. Like I said programs running in the background constantly using location and updating via 3G take battery that they shouldn't be taking.
But I don't think they make a program to do so, So until they do I will have to just deal with it.
