This sunday Tango, a dutch chain of unmanned gasstations, celebrates their 10th year of exsistence. To celebrate they'll serve gas at the prices from ten years ago, and people here are going nuts.
FYI: 10 years ago gas was € 1.15 per liter($ 5.50/gallon), currently € 1.50 per liter($ 7.20/gallon)

Wow, that is still too high! I remember the first time that regular gas in Indianapolis hit $1.00 a gallon- 9/11/2001. Premium at a BP station in Crawfordsville, IN was going for $1.87 on May 29th, 2006 (I remember this since it was the day that I brought my SRT home from the dealership).

you're telling me
truth is, of that € 1.50, 72 cent is taxes.
Funny thing is though:
bare selling price gas + 72 cent taxes = selling price, right?
NO!
extra tax 19% >_< so you're paying TAXES over TAXES!!! *sighs*

I remember paying $3.50 to fill a 5 gallon can for the boat.

Don't forget the hated "kwartje van Kok" Marcel.
We pay 3 kinds of taxes on our gas, and the taxes are still rising.

Here's a youtube movie from a news item.
The American viewers probably won't understand what we are saying, but you get a good look what took place today here in Holland.
