Saving the environment..

For all of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon emissions, in the name of "Climate Change" or "Global Warming", some really bad news has occurred that will be very painful for you to process. But here it is anyway.

Are you sitting down?

Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since it first started spewing volcanic ash a week ago, has, to this point, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet. Not only that, this single act of God has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than can be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual reductions.

I know, I know.... (have a group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs (which last no longer anyway) ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just one week.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in the past week totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon.

And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you helped move to Asia because you demanded business spend so much to stop pollution, well those jobs we need now are gone (even though America has already engineered 60% less pollution and cleaner air here since 1970). It’s funny really -- per ton of production, the U.S. is already the least polluting society on earth . . . and we’re moving our jobs to places that pollute exponentially more, simply because some elites here feel guilty. Well, that must seem really worthwhile now.

And, to top it off, research indicates rising CO2 does not cause rising temperatures. In fact, it’s the other way round. Rising temperatures cause rising CO2.

I'm so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our world for the next two years.

Frankly, I’m anxious to get back to the things we can do something about – clean water, clean air and managing forests to produce and save wood. We were progressing pretty well with that before you came along to waste our time and money scaring people and blaming everything on “Global Warming”.

So, grab a Coke, give the world a hug, and have a nice day

and i laughed everytime they said in TV that they wanna "declare to limit the annual global warming to 1 degree". And if not? HOW they wanna force Mother Nature to stop that? A complaint against God?
Temperature goes up and down in cycles that cannot be calculated.
You cannot say "hey, 1 degree this year, 1 degree the last year - oh my gosh that's 100 degrees in 100 years".
Every serious sientist can tell you that you can NEVER prognose from such a small range.
I mean, we log the weather for what, 100 years? No one can know how the weather was before, in wich cycles it goes and what the fuck ever.

Sure - CLEAN AIR, less bad emissions, less water contamination and many more is a very good, big and absolutely needed idea - but that has nothing to do with global warming, only with a healthier environment.

Millions of years ago we had desert where now is Europe, some scientists say we are just at the end of the last glacial period. And who could know? We have no reliable data about the last 20 Million years...

And on the other hand: No one of us will ever be here in like 80 years...

Oh and btw: end of may and it is still dammit cold here, where is the global warming???
10 years ago the same time i could swim in the seas and sunbath - and now? I still have to heat the house and to wear thick jacket...

maybe the arrogance of humans will finally be stopped a little... i mean, ok, there's a shitload of people, but we've had our ice ages and tropical ages all thoughout history but SUDDENLY since WE are here it's cause is human? come on...

Besides, both methane and water vapour have more greenhouse effect than carbon-dioxide and guess what, even trees emit them both

There's only one good reason to stop the exhorbitant use of fosslie fuels: we are running out sooner or later. ;)

Guys, like it or not we are changing the world. I don't think we are changing it as dramatically as the "experts" make it seem.

History is like a sine wave. We are just changing the period and the magnitude.

Oh I have no doubt that humans are changing the environment. But I am not going to go out of my way to "help" when mother nature is going to do what it wants to do.

Meh. fuck "going green." how about you just be less of an asshole to things around you, and the world will be a better place, all around

Just do what we've been doing for as long as I remember. Don't throw non-biodegradable stuff out the window and, every Labor Day, plant a tree or something. The whole 'Going Green' fad is just that - a FAD blown out of proportion by the media; something we should all realize by now.

Long times ago in China I heard about the "Greenhouse effect" is totally a joke and the government states that it's just some tricks the developed countries try to inhibit the developing of countries like China. I thought it was some nonsense statement made by communist party for fast economy development. But after I come here, the truth is, there's no famous University ever states the greenhouse effect. And even one professor of mine said that even the ice melted in south pole, the earth itself is still making ice under the sea though. So now it's probably true that "Greenhouse effect" is a joke.

The statistic calculator by Scripps Institution of Oceanography of UC San Diego shows that there are not significant temperature changes in even last 10 or more years. Link: http://cdip.ucsd.edu/?nav=historic&sub= ... =product13

However, I do agree that we should protect the environment by planting more trees and use less oils.

It's kinda surprising that this is new news...

It's been stated by every person with a brain that global warming is BS. As stated before, the earth goes in cycles. It get's warm and cold...we don't have much to do with what mother nature wants to do.

It was a way for the media to strike a panic/coerce the sheeple into buying products or ideas that they support and are being supported by.

Even if it were true, we couldn't do anything about it because industrializing nations are producing so much pollution that no matter what we did it wouldn't be enough.

With this, going on, greenhouse gasses pale in comparison to the direct impact.

AMEN.

By the way, I think that Bill is right..... I think the aftereffects of the Gulf Oil 'spill', is far greater a threat, than the *possible* threat of global warming.
