Upcoming new work schedule

Post by BlackRoseRacing » Thu May 27, 2010 5:54 am

We'll after 2 years of work progressing to 60+hrs a week Mon-Sat, things are going to change next week hopefully for the better. My place of work is switching to a 3day work week...
3days on 4 days off
Then once a month there's a week off and a week on. Hopefully this is going to work out but the number one thing that conserns me is going from a pay check with 60hrs in it down to 35-40. Granted the overtime has been nice, I probably should not have counted on it being permanent.
So next week my work shedule starts off:
Thurs - 7:30am-9pm
Fri - 7:30am-6pm
Sat - 7:30am-6pm
This will continue through the month until July where it switches in the first week then I'll work
Mon - 7:30am-9pm
Tues - 7:30am-9pm
Wed - 7:30am-9pm
Which means the weekend for Carlisle I'll be scheduled off and I don't need to use vacation time this year.....
Hopefully my health can handle 13.5hr days :banghead:

Eh, with all of the time off every few weeks, you'll do okay. I've been working hours like those for years and you're a lot younger than me.

My dad worked 12 hour days 6 days a week for years. 1 hour drive each way. I don't know how the hell he did it.

The old bastid has more energy than me, and he's turning 69 in July. Better than the other way around tho.

I'm with John

I work 12-15 hour days mon-fri and then all the extra paperwork that no one thinks about after that...

I would love that schedule though...4 days off 3 on is something to dream of!

We used to work Sunday-Weds night, 8p-6a and it was amazing. Shitty trying to sleep @ night for 3 days just to go back to night shifts for 4, but it was the best work shift I've found yet.

damn,
after hearing all the replies....what ever happened to the 9-5 job
It seems a few of us work odd schedules compared to the average person. I keep hearing how I'm going to a great schedule, but the biggest thing thats goin to hurt me is a paycheck based on 55-60hrs a week being cut down to 35-40hrs a week. I'ts a good thing I got most of my bills situated, hopefully the cut in hours won't hurt me too much :banghead:

When I worked in IT back in the 80's, I had a rotating schedule for a while that was 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for about nine days straight and then four or five days off. I really liked it, took a lot of short trips around the midwest in my trusty Omni.

There talking about moving things around in service Tues/Wed next week which is going to require someone to run phone line,Net cables, PC's...
I have a feeling that I'll still be showing up to work on my days off :banghead:

We'll so far I'm liking this new schedule....
My 4 year old is not used to having Daddy home all day. I had yesterday off too and it was great, I was actually able to pick up some misc supplies to get the car done and not have to worry about doing it on my lunch break or right after work.
I may start to like this new schedule after all....

I'm on a 9 - 5 job... and even with that I tend to get sleepy around 2 - 3pm in the afternoon. Something to do with circadian rhythm. On those 13 hour days you will basically have no life other than work, eat and sleep.

When I was driving truck my hours were more like 13/day. I suppose if I had to do it over again I could... but that was only one of the reasons I escaped from driving for a living.

I'm on a start when I need to when the job ends.

Days can start as early as 4:30a like on Monday and end at 12:00a like when flying home late like last week when I flew to Austin and home in one day.
