We Lost a Neon Enthusiast Tuesday May 25th
A friend of mine lost his life on tuesday at 8:24pm est. The love and desire of his life was a 2005 SRT4 and while testing it after a turbo swap lost control and was killed. While speed is addicting and a rush, you should carefully evaluate your driving skills and abilities before you try it. Sadly, I found out tonight that he was going to ask his girlfriend to marry him and give her a ring on may 29th. I am so sad that this promising young man is gone. in the process he almost took one of his friends with him. The passenger is in critical condition and still may not make it.
Soooo, What is the point here. I know not anyone personally on this site, but feel I do from reading your comments. I just want to ask everyone, If you want to run your car, PLEASE, Take it to a sanctioned track, or other venue that has a margin of safety and off the street to protect the public and yourself. While am much older than most here, I am prone to speed and take chances. However, This has changed me. I love our sport and won't do anything to harm it or ruin it's reputation further. God Bless each and everyone of you here, and all that love our sport.

Wow, that really sucks.. Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope the passenger makes it out ok.
My thoughts and prayers are with the kid, the passenger and their families.

I'm with Gramps on this too. Also the passenger's friends/family.
While he (passenger) may be innocent in the sense he didn't directly injure himself, I have no doubt he had a sense of what he was getting into. As did the driver. In my younger days, it didn't matter if it was me, or a buddy driving, you didn't hesitate to go along for the ride. I would still like to believe there would be no hard feelings on either side of things. It is in a way no different than backyard football. You know you could break a leg, but you do it anyways. And you can't really be mad at your buddy for tackling you. Not a fair comparison, but the theme still holds true. We all do something dumb in our lives at some point, and most of us are lucky, (or unlucky) to live through it.

Loss of my friend
Thanks to all for the good comments to this posting. I will pass them along to the family and Girlfriend. The passenger is now awake but still in guarded condition. His injuries are very severe, including head injuries, broken legs and shoulder, had spleen removed and has severely bruised lungs. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers.

This IS really sad.
My own observation is that, people don't take the risk seriously enough, sometimes.
I've been in 'test rides' where the 'pilot' was doing triple-digit speeds on a country road.... at night.
Not something that I would do, to fellow passengers.

Mitch's SRT4
Lil Sparkplug, The neon that Glasswars posted pics of belonged to Mitch. Post accident it was almost unrecognizeable. The front was gone, i think up to the windshield. Haven't seen the car in person, post accident, But saw pics on the local news. The most prominent part I saw was the right rear quarter panel.
