no shit...that's my field of work. In that case you want to be a 21T "technical engineering specialist" it involves autocad, surveying, soil testing, and concrete testing. It's a critical MOS also, so you might be able to get a signon bonus. The downfall is it's hard to find a unit that has 21T slots, which also makes promotion slow. It is a fun and rewarding MOS, been doing it for 2yrs now. I'm also a 21E Heavy Equipment operator, which is a pretty cool job as well.
If you have any other questions about the engineering field lmk

it is cool, I like the whole USMC pride thing, Army is just like everyone doing a job and going home, once you go home you don't think twice about soldiering.. well me anyway... hahaha.

All my friends that went USMC out of high school are all out and hated it, all my army friends are still in.... marines are cool and all but not for the long term.

Being an enlisted Marine who doesn't make it to Sergeant has to be horrible. They get shit on constantly. Once you make Sergeant you can dish it out.

I really think the first couple of years in the Corps is a haze fest. Though, the officer side is pretty good, at least in the Air Wing. Being a pilot doesn't hurt.

I resent that. I have no ambition to pick up Sergeant, because I don't feel like taking on all the responsibilities that a Sergeant in a Line Company has to take. I don't get shit on or get crap for being a Corporal. If you become one of those motivated-NCO's, then yes. You'll get shit. But, call me a shitbag, I'm just cool and laid back. I don't give a fuck about anything... probably because I'm getting out in a few months

i looked it up on the national guard site and the only thing that came close to it was this is this it?

here is the link to the page were i go the info from
http://www.nationalguard.com/careers/mo ... s/engineer

12T From airstrips and roads to docks and barracks, the Guard is always involved in construction projects, and the Technical Engineer is essential to this process. Technical Engineers supervise or participate in construction site development as surveyors or draftsmen, helping develop construction plans and specifications, and supplying technical drawing diagrams for wiring and plumbing of structures. They also provide surveys and maps that are used to locate military targets and plot troop movements.

lol i think whoever made that site was dislexic, all engineering MOS's are 21 series not 12 haha.
as for what i do everyday, well it varies. When i'm working in the office I'm drawing stuff up in CAD, which most of the time thats where i'm at. A lot of projects we do are civil, but we also get into architecture now and then. Some stuff i've helped design are parking lots, a gym, leadership reaction course, and a breech facily.
Now since i'm also an equipment operator they send me out in the field sometimes, so i operate equipment on our jobsites. some projects we've worked on recently have been the breeching facility, landing pads, basketball court, and a gym. (as i said before i designed some of these)
whats really cool is since i do both jobs, i help design and draw it, then go out in the field and help build it. Its neat seeing things go from paper to reality.

also what scores did you you get on your ASVAB? i believe you needed to have a min GT score of 115 to be a 21T.

if you talk to a recruiter typically they can get you in to take a practice asvab test, that way you know where you stand currently and how much you need to brush up on stuff. with you being in college i imagine you will do just fine.

I thought you can directly go into the officer program when having the bachelor degree?
