It would be just another reason not to buy anything FCA has to offer.

There isn't much that interests me in their line up as it is...

Chrysler could have done better but the rested on the 300 and didnt work to make anything else....the only thing FCA have that i want right now is the Giulia, not so much on anything else... no more like they used to be with compact cars.... they need to revamp the journey! its ancient and could use a full new model plus crossovers are huge right now and FCA doesnt have a good one..

As long as FCA continues to not have any small vehicles built here in the US, I would have to look elsewhere if I were in the market to buy a new car. Oh well... good thing that my Neon soldiers on. :)

Probably a bit more accurate, and that applies to any car manufacturer. The sad part is the "imports" probably have more american made content than the "domestics".

My employer uses tons of stuff made in China, that we used to source locally, but it's "American Made". This was before we got bought by a foreign company.

It's companies like this that might give a few americans jobs, that aren't really supporting americans. And the hilarious part is we are the least profitable compared to our competition.

Truth. Last I checked (a few years ago), the Hyundai Sonata was the most "American" new car in America, parts and labor combined. I was actually quite surprised that it wasn't the Camry... America's most... favorite... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Hyundai Denies "Groundless" Rumor It Plans To Buy FCA

And FCA refuses to comment.
Only a few days ago we reported Hyundai and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles were holding secret merger talks. This really didn’t come as much of a surprise, considering FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne has been very vocal about his desire for a merger with another automaker for a few years now. He previously knocked on GM’s door but no one answered. But the fact Hyundai may be in the picture is quite interesting. For starters, the South Korean automaker is flush with cash these days.

It’s also worth noting that both automakers previously held preliminary talks last year about a potential collaboration on fuel-cell hydrogen technologies. Roadshow reached out to Hyundai for comment regarding a possible FCA merger and, not surprisingly, denied everything. “That rumor is totally groundless,” said Hyundai Corporate and Marketing Public Relations official Michael Stewart. FCA declined to comment. That denial and silence, it needs to be pointed out, does not mean this deal won’t happen. Both Hyundai and FCA are publically traded companies and merger/buyout talks would certainly be felt in their respective stock prices, for better or worse.

The market and shareholders could react favorably to these talks, or they may not. Again, if a deal is being cooked up both companies want to keep it quiet until they’re good and ready to make an announcement. One major issue that likely still needs to be worked out is leadership. Marchionne plans to retire next April and Hyundai CEO Mong-koo is 80 years old. Who will replace them both? If the merger talks are serious, will one individual be sought for the job? It also needs to be noted that the U.S. and South Korea have a free trade agreement that would unquestionably be extremely beneficial.

For being such a "bad company", Chrysler has manged to save both the Germans and the Italians so far. Perhaps, the SK's see the same opportunity.

I would rather it be KIA than Hyundai. KIA has a better track record for reliability and overall quality.

Probably better than Fiat... who has the largest recall in history going on right now, with cruise control accelerating and not shutting off. It's either kick it in neutral, and hope the rev limiter does it's thing, or take your chances keying off.

And speaking of reliable, Mom's Caliber just got it's third set of LCA's, and the replacement crossmember is rusting to hell. YAY!

My preference would be US investors taking the company private- no more foreign ownership. And to make Ralph the CEO.

If it was time for new ownership (which seems perpetual at this point), I'll gladly take Hyundai. I'd certainly have chosen them over Fiat.

My ultimate would be Mazda, but that will never happen. I really think they're the only company that could bring a good, sporty small car back to Dodge. I can dream, I guess.

Kia still overall better cars than Hyundai, regardless of whatever ownership structure you want to go by. I would rather go with Kia's standards.

But hey, on a positive note, Dodge is rated higher than GMC and Cadillac, and Chrysler is higher than Chevy. Kind of a flip for CR.
