That haven't announced pricing for the Charger SRT Hellcat yet. It weighs 100lbs more then the Challenger Hellcat, yet it out performs it in the quarter and top speed?

Yup, a little added weight helps traction.

Possibly less drag than the challenger? That would help top speed, weight would have no impact there, unless it was still spinning the tires.... And the weight difference was actually on the rear tires.

Top speed is helped by the more aerodynamic front end, quarter mile is helped by more weight, allowing it to get more grip. The more weight is closer to the rear than the front since that's where you have extra space over the Challenger.

Welcome back Sean!

The weight helping top speed was a bit of sarcasm. IDK if 707 hp is enough to spin the tires in the top gears @204 MPH. Maybe on the salt? Probably not capable of the rpm in the lower gears.

I'm not "back", my friend. I just pop in occasionally on threads I'm following. (This one and a few build threads, mainly)

I can't tell sarcasm on the intrawebz anymore... the Avenger forum I'm on is pretty dead nowadays so I'm so out of practice!

Higher top speed is more likely due to aerodynamics than weight, although the Charger is slightly heavier than a Challenger, it also has a longer wheelbase,
so it's unlikely to have more weight on the rear wheels.

200 mph in a Dodge Charger isn't anything new

I'm more interested in the Charger at this point. I'm just not a big fan of the Challenger body. And the damn things are everywhere here.

300 horsepower isn't impressive in a car as heavy as the Dodge Dart. The ill-fated Dodge Caliber SRT-4 had 285 horsepower, but was discontinued due to poor sales.

BTW, the 230 horsepower Dodge Neon SRT-4 was faster

Depending on the driver, only by a tenth. I ran my bone stock SRT to a 13.8, where most only went 14.0-14.2. I had a friend who had never went to the track run a 14.0 and 14.1 in their heavy caliber. Same track, similar conditions.

FWIW, the heavy caliber's curb weight was 3,052, where the small SRT-4, weighs in at a svelte 2900lbs.

The AWD dart SRT will only weigh 400lbs more than the SRT-4 neon. WIth 70 more HP and AWD, it will be way more fun to drive than the SRT.
