i doubt that colonel, its probably going to be more like this

dodge salesman: "welcome, we're giving away a free caliber with every purchase of a dart."

buyer: "really...? are you sure i cant just buy the dart? you can keep the caliber..."

I want to see the 100, the Wagoneer and the new SRT Chalenger.

I'm glad Fiat and Chrysler seem to be working well together.

I am. BUT I'm holding out for the SRT version. I don't want to jump on a new car and have the SRT come out the next year. My neon is going on 10 years and I love it to death but I'm up in the air.. it'd be nice to have a brand new car off the showroom. ya know? and if I have to get it 2nd hand.. atleast I'll have boost! :D

I am starting to think the same way. An srt dart would be worth being a neon replacement as a DD.

On another note, has anybody noticed how bad the new Fiat 500 sucks at fuel economy for a 1.4L? I just saw one on display at a local shopping outlet center and it said 27city and 32mpg highway. WTF our neons had better numbers and more power!

:withstupid: ... ... I'm thinking of buying a Dart SXT as a daily driver, seems to be a lot of car for the money.

Dart may very well be my next purchase once the srt is paid off.

Dealers repairing Chrysler V6 engines

it'd be nice to know what exactly the problem is, why are they hiding it?

I pray that Chrysler Group doesn't "handle" the Pentastar V6 problem like the old Chrysler Corporation did with the 1GN Neon headgasket. :beatstick:

Me too, since I have one of those engines.

It is a little hush hush from what I read but it relates to a poor casting of the head and a stud works loose.

I looked into it pretty hard because we have a Pentastar engine in our T&C and I didn't want to get blindsided about it. But it looks like it mainly plagues the Wranglers as they have a slightly different head. The problem presents itself very early so it should be fixed under warranty easily. I believe I saw people with the issue as early as 2000 miles.

At least now they are fixing it without raising a stink. The first people who reported this problem had to be a knife in the side of the dealership to even had the problem investigated.

Do you have any idea why it's so "hush hush"? I've heard that it happened with engines assembled in the Mexico engine plant.

I don't. All of my information comes from bouncing around various forums of people who had this problem.

It was probably kept quiet in the beginning because it wasn't an official problem. I have absolutely no idea now.

My opinion is that I would rather a company come out and say we screwed up, this is what happened and this is how we are fixing it. Stuff like this is just too shady.

I had also heard about it being more related to the Mexican site but I seem to remember a few of the engines actually coming from a plant in the States, but that could have been a simple inventory transfer if that plant was short on heads and the Mexico plant had extra.

I'm just happy that I shouldn't have to worry about this problem. Our engine purrs like a kitten with 23000 miles on it.

:) That's good to hear ... I want to trade our '09 Avenger with a 2.7 liter, for one with a 3.6 liter ... the added 93 horsepower is great !

I am thinking I may get an Avenger once the neon finally gives up. which will be awile. And does anyone know what the lug size is for an avenger? I really don't want to give up my wheels when I do change.

The fuel economy is even more impressive.

We went on a trip to the beach in June and got 25mpg. It was much higher until we did a lot of idling one day. I'm really curious what it will be on a trip of pure highway with minimal stops.

Steve

I don't know the lug pattern for the Avenger but I'd be pretty confident saying it's probably not 5x100.

Possible good news for the economies of Howard and Tipton counties in Indiana due to Chrysler:

http://kokomotribune.com/local/x1752047 ... -abatement

The newswriter gets DCX confused with Chrysler Group in this article- Chrysler Group didn't exist when DCX partnered with Getrag to build this plant. It has been a white elephant for years so I hope that Chrysler does decide to build transmissions there.

More about activity in Indiana. The plant pictured in the photo is the newer one on the north side of Kokomo.

If I didn't already have a good, steady job, I would be headed north to apply there.
