The really doesn't effect anyone outside of the Baltimore area.

Do not shop at Jones Junction.

This is an email that I sent to the Assistant General Manager and the Service Manager.

Mr. Kropff and Mr. Sweitzer,

I am emailing to let you know my experience today at your service center.

I spent nearly 40 minutes waiting to pick up my car and return the loaner car. At first they couldn't find my car, finally they found it, I payed and they had to get someone to pull it around. I'm there waiting for someone to get it, then I see the car but, I see the kid stop, so I figured maybe he decided that was how far he was going to go. I drive the loaner back to the car (because I had stuff to move back to my car) to see he is waiting in the car wash line. I get him to roll the window down and ask him if he is waiting for the car wash, he said yes, so I told him to get out of line because I want to go home. They had my car all day and they decided to wash it when I got there.

I start getting my stuff into my car, but I went over to the loaner return area to start that process since I knew the person would have to check the car. No one was there, I leave a note on my slip saying where the car was so they could come over when they got back. I go back to the car to finish moving stuff. I moved the last couple things and go back to the counter, still no one there. I wait for a minute then go back into the service area and ask the first person I see that I want to return the car. She goes and looks at the rental counter, to apparently confirm that there was no one there, and then apparently paged someone, I didn't hear anything come over a PA.

I wait a little longer and still no one is there so I go back out to the same person and again tell her that I want to return the car. I was extremely mad at this point, and I was trying to remain calm towards the employees to prevent from creating a big scene because I just wanted to go home after a long day and I knew a scene would delay that. However, I'm sure that it was very obvious I was mad.

This was the 13th (65,000 miles of services) time that I have gone there and nearly every time I have been disappointed. I have never been happy the oil change/tire rotations that take 1.5hrs (one even took 2 hrs), even though I was one of the first cars there at the beginning of the day (I always made 7am appointments) so I was about to switch my service place. I gave Jones another chance when you introduced their free pickup/loaner car program because I figured it would make it a ton easier. The first try they couldn't find my car when I got there and then there is this time.

As I was driving home I noticed the window sticker mentioned 5w20 oil. The oil cap recommends 5w30 oil to be used in an 08 Prius. The service receipt said that 5w30 was used, but I called the service group to ensure that if 5w20 was used that it would not damage the engine. The gentlemen assured me that 5w30 was used and that even if 5w20 was used it would not hurt the engine. I know in the majority of times the minor difference in viscosity won't hurt the engine, but I don't know anything about the engine in the Prius.

Even though the oil changes are free, I will never be going back to Jones Toyota. I can go to the place where I purchased my tires and get a free tire rotation and the oil change costs $19.99 so it will cost the same. Even if it were to cost more I will not be going to Jones. I will be informing my employer of my experience and that I will be going elsewhere, because my time is much more valuable than any cost difference of the car's service.

Thank you for your time.

I should be pretty good now. I get tires at Mr. Tire, so I'm gonna give them a shot since they are about 3 minutes from home.

I finally got a call from the Service Manager. They left a message so I'll give him a call back tomorrow. I'll give them a break on the weekend, but I think if they actually cared they wouldn't wait 3 days to respond.

I called the service manager back today. He said the obvious that he wants my business and such.

He said that whenever I need service I can call him directly and he gave me his cell phone number. He offered his personal cell number too, but I didn't take that.

I told him I would consider everything. I have 5000 miles to make a decision (~2 months or less) so I'll see where it goes from there.
