I know nothing about that area.

Coltrain might... I'll shoot him a text and ask.

560 miles away from me so I know nothing about the place.
:hijacked:
As much as I dislike Toyota, I'd be up for moving there for a job if the company would help me sell my house.

It would only be on a one year term at most, then I would be sent back to my current facility/position. My family would be staying here, (Simcoe, Ontario). From what I can piece together, I'd be there for 6 weeks, the home to see my family for a week vacation, then back to Mississippi for another 6 weeks, then again...one week off, etc etc etc...for the term of getting the plant operational. I wouldn't have to move my family there as my permanent posting at the Woodstock,Ontario plant would be guaranteed for me to come back to upon completion.

I don't know the incentives for me to go...but I should find out soon. There'd have to be substantial financial incentives as well as advancement opportunities for me to seriously consider this. One year is a large part of my children's lives (at their age...4.5 and 1) that I'm not sure I want to miss out on. The potential opportunity is very intriguing as I do love a challenge...

Wow man..that is a very very long distance and time to be away from your family. Trust me..it's hard but you just have to sit down wiht the wife and family and talk it out...look at the pro's and con's..to be totally honest..Not one bit of our opinions should be taken into consideration on something like this...Who cares what the area really is like for a year...if you want to expand and move within Toyota then do it..if you think you and your family couldn't do the distance thing...then don't..(all this is my opinion and i don't want to offend no one with it) But best of luck on what you do man.

Consider it an adventure and jump at the opportunity.

I moved down to San Antonio from Ottawa, Ontario about 3 months ago.

And yes, things do move slower (except for the traffic) in the south... it was severely annoying me when I first got down here but now I'm going with the flow.

That's a really shitty schedule, 6 on 1 off? Hell, even the remote camps middle of nowhere oil sands do 3 on 1 off. The 3 on 1 off is normally a typical rotation for jobs out in no mans land. Unless you get weekends back up in Simcoe during those 6 weeks it does not sound like a good deal to me.

I threw my name in to say I'm interested, we'll see what the incentives are once they release them. I'll talk to my family and decide then. It does sound interesting though...
